It was a memorable day for Picton Rangers Football Club as more than 50 girls took part in the club’s Girls Only Football Session on Thursday the 4th of February 2021.

Picton Sportsground, the home of Picton Rangers Football Club played host to yet another initiative to grow the girls’ game in the local area.

The Girls Only Soccer Session was delivered and supported by Macarthur Football Association’s Community Football Manager, Kevin Guardado Amaya, as well as Macarthur Rams Womens FC coaches, Pete Nowakowski and Sam McGowan.

Activities on the day revolved around the 4 core skills with the coaches ensuring that every girl had a ball at their feet for as long as possible in the hour and a half long session.

With nearly 30% of participants at Rangers already being females, the club has shown that investing in growth strategies for female footballers really pays off as the nation strives to reach the 50/50 mark in the coming years.

Community Football Manager, Kevin Guardado Amaya, was delighted with how the day unfolded.

“To see so many girls of all ages and different stages of their footballing journey all come together in the one place was amazing to see. Events like this bring the MFA Strategic Plan to life by making girls football a priority in the recruitment campaigns of clubs and the association.

“We at the Macarthur Football Association hope to see and support more of these events as we continue to push the girls’ game, especially with the Women’s World Cup just around the corner now.”
