Sydney United 58 have been the biggest casualty of round 4 of the FFA Cup Preliminary round of matches following an evening of thrills, spills and crazy results as well as late winners after the Reds were bundled out by a red-hot Bankstown City FC.

Goals from the Triantis brothers and former United 58 players Chris and Peter as well as Huseyin Jasli cancelled out Andreas Agamemnonos’ goal heaping more pressure on the iconic NPL NSW Men’s side after a tough few weeks of winless matches in the NPL NSW Men’s competition.

A regular entrant in the round of 32 of the prestigious FFA Cup, its only the second time in the knockout competition’s history that won’t feature the powerhouse club.

Elsewhere, Rockdale Illinden needed a 93rd minute winner thanks to Bai Antoniou to secure its passage to round 5 of the Cup after a hard fought 2-1 win over NPL 3 NSW Men’s side Rydalmere Lions. Gavin Rae’s men went up early, but Alec Urosevski equalised in the 89th minute before Antoniou scored the winner all but knocking out a courageous Lions outfit.

APIA Leichhardt booked its ticket to round 5 after a 4-0 win over Football St George’s Connells Point Rovers at Lambert Park. Goals from Vince Fedele, Sean Symons, Corey Biczo and Franco Parisi were the difference as Paul Dee’s side progressed without any hassles.

Ian McLennan Park played host to Blacktown City FC defeating Illawarra Premier League outfit Tarrawanna Blueys 5-1. Goals to Carlos De Olivera, Travis Major, Charles Mendy and Jak O’Brien and an unfortunate own goal from Mitchell Young gave Mark Crittenden’s men the victory.

Marconi Stallions advanced to the next stages of the Cup defeating NPL 3 NSW Men’s side Central Coast United 3-0. A double from new 2021 recruit Emmanuel Peters and one from Anthony Costa progressed Peter Tsekenis’ men to round 5 of the coveted knockout Cup competition.

NPL 2 NSW Men’s side Hakoah Sydney City East made light work of NPL 3 NSW Men’s outfit Sydney University SFC after dismantling the students 7-0 at Hensley Athletic Field. James Baldacchino, Jordan Koton, Bruno Mendes, James Demetriou, Zach Sapsford, Marco Arambasic and Tristen Van Rhoon all got in on the action scoring for the hosts.

Northern Tigers, thanks to goals from Alexander Brown, William Hodgson and a double from Oliver Scott, were enough to hand the NPL 2 NSW Men’s side a 4-0 win over Football St George’s Sans Souci.

Bill Anderson Reserve played host to an epic Cup match as the local Southern Districts FA derby between Kemps Creek United and Liverpool Olympic kept every spectator on the edge of their seats. The game ended one-a-piece after extra time with the match heading into penalty shootouts which Olympic took out 2-1.

A goal in the first half of extra time was needed from Randwick City’s Andrew Jenkenson to push the Eastern Suburbs FA side to the next stages of the Cup after a hard fought 2-1 win over Northern Suburbs FA’s Kissing Point FC.

Football St George’s Banksia Tigers scored two extra time goals that saw them defeat Hills Football’s Kenthurst & District FC 2-0. Goals to Ali Faour and Hussein Salemeh booked the club’s ticket to the next phase of the Cup.

David Thomas Reserve was rocking as Manly FA’s Manly Vale FC defeated a strong Illawarra Premier League outfit Bulli FC 2-1. Goals to Alex Eremenko and a stunner from Odin Seoane all but assured the Manly Vale boys were playing for a spot in round 5 of the Cup.

Finally, Prospect United defeated Brookvale FC 4-3 after extra time, Mt Druitt Town Rangers proved too strong for Maroubra United winning 3-1 while finally Menai Hawks knocked out Cringila Lions 1-0.
