Football NSW today announced its FFA Cup Round 6 Preliminary matches with the city of Blacktown set for a hugely anticipated derby for a coveted Round 7 spot with National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s giants Blacktown City drawing National Premier Leagues 2 NSW Men’s side and neighbours Blacktown Spartans.

Former Blacktown City 20’s coach and now Spartans Gaffa Andrew Montgomery will be making the short trek back to his old stomping ground at Lily Homes Stadium hoping to bag a major scalp in the prestigious Cup competition.

Elsewhere, Popondetta Park will see Mt Druitt Town Rangers tackle Illawarra Premier League outfit Wollongong Olympic with Stewart Montgomery’s men set to face some familiar faces. The South Coast side boosts some well known former NPL stars such as Chris Price, Josh McDonald, Ben Zucco, John Martinoski and Justin Pasfield to name a few.

Southern Districts Soccer Football Association side Liverpool Olympic have won themselves a dream tie against iconic NPL NSW Men’s side Sydney Olympic at Hoxton Park Reserve. A massive ‘David & Goliath’ clash, Liverpool Olympic are hoping they too can push their much-fancied opponents as Sutherland Shire Football Association side Menai Hawks did so in Round 5. A huge crowd is expected to cheer both clubs on, both of which have strong Greek backgrounds.

A local derby will feature at the Ilinden Sports Centre as NPL NSW Men’s side Rockdale Ilinden tackle NPL 2 NSW Men’s outfit St George FC.

Marconi Stallions are hoping to put their poor NPL NSW Men’s form behind as they chase that elusive Round 7 spot, standing in their way however will be high flying NPL 2 NSW Men’s side NWS Spirit FC coached by David Perkovic.

NPL 2 NSW Men’s side Hakoah Sydney City East will be favourites to land a spot in the next round when they face NPL 3 NSW Men’s outfit Canterbury Bankstown FC while at the North Turramurra Recreation Area, an intriguing battle will pit NPL 2 NSW Men’s side Northern Tigers hosting NPL NSW men’s club APIA Leichhardt FC.

Manly United will take on the winner of Mounties Wanderers/Banksia Tigers.

Matches will be scheduled to fall on three dates, Tuesday 11th May, Wednesday 12th May and Thursday 13th of May.

A full update of these fixtures will be announced on the official FFA Cup fixture page in coming days.

The winner of these matches will then be one win away from grabbing a coveted official Round of 32 FFA Cup spot with the Wollongong Wolves currently occupying one of the five NSW designated spots for winning the 2019 NPL Finals Series.
