Football NSW is deeply saddened to hear the news of the passing of former NSW Women’s State Team Women’s coach Joe O’Connor who passed away peacefully in Perth on Wednesday evening.

Joe O’Connor successfully coached the NSW Women’s State Team side in 1974, 76 and 77 to become National Champions.

He was the Club Coach of Sydney Prague which became St George and remained undefeated for 10 years.

He was the National Women’s Coach endorsed by the ASF to play in the first ever Womens AFC Asian Cup in Hong Kong in 1975 where they took out a Bronze medal.

Our heartfelt sympathies to his wife Pat, son Kirk and grandchildren.
