Hills FA kicking off Walking Football League for 2021

Hills Football Association are kicking off a Walking Football League commencing on Sunday 20th June in conjunction with Kenthurst & District FC.

Excited about the news, Football NSW Game Development Officer Trevor Huxley offered his thoughts.

“Walking Football is a fantastic initiative offering a social, small-sided and sustainable version of football, specifically modified for older Australians.

“Walking Football aims to provide participants with physical and mental health benefits, social contentedness and promotes the benefits of ongoing physical activity”.

Matt Rippon HFI’s General Manager was looking forward to the new league kicking off.

“We are thrilled to launch this new competition with the aim of re-engaging old participants, giving current players another offering and provide new participants to our sport a fun social and welcoming environment.

“I envisage these programs will grow season by season and will becoming a regular feature in our winter and summer season offerings”.

Nikki Riddle, program lead for Kenthurst & District Football club couldn’t hide her smile upon seeing the news that a Walking Football League was ready for take-off within the Hills FA area.

“Hills football have done an amazing job growing the game in our community and Kenthurst are thrilled to be a part of helping build Walking football.

“We see Walking football as an opportunity for our members to remain in the game for as long as possible. We look forward to other clubs jumping on board with this amazing concept and seeing this area of our game continue to grow.”

Competition details:

  • DATE: Commencing Sunday 20th June 2021
  • TIME: Matches will run from 10:00am and 11:00am each week.
  • MATCH DETAILS: 5 v 5 matches/20 minute halves/7 rounds
  • LOCATION: Kenthurst Park: Roughly Road, Kenthurst
  • COST: $85.00 per player – all players must complete the registration form HERE
