Football NSW acknowledges World Refugee Week

1200x630-World-refugee-day-1

Football NSW is proud to honour and celebrate each and everyone of the 1.9 million plus participants born in over 190 countries for World Refugee Week commencing today and concluding on the 26th of June.

With our valued participants come stories and experiences as unique as the cultures and players themselves.

For many in our football community, those experiences include a journey to Australia to find a safe haven from persecution and uncertain futures.

For those with a seeking refuge, a new start in a new world is made more manageable when they find a familiar sport namely our beautiful game, Football.

While it may seem a small object that football has provided joy and escape in lads far away and offered comfort, hope and welcome in an adopted land we call Australia.

In turn, those who sought refuge have contributed to enriching our football culture and communities in so many wonderful ways as we pay tribute to these great people.

No matter who you are or where you come from, everyone of us can make a difference.

Every action counts.
