Football NSW have announced a preliminary update on competitions given the current COVID-19 restrictions that are in place across various areas of the State.

The competitions team are working through the calendar for the remainder of the season taking into consideration a range of factors including but not limited to; the integrity of competitions, residual fitness and current training conditions for players as well as facility access constraints across the different levels of Competition.

The guidelines for Competitions continue to remain as follows:

  • 2021 Premiership season is completed in its entirety for all Competitions.
  • Promotion and Relegation principles are applied.
  • Utilising the remainder of the season to schedule catch up rounds, finals and or cup fixtures

With the current Public Health Order in place until 11:59pm Friday 9 July 2021, the proposed return to competitions fixture is as follows:

For clarity, if the season is to recommence on the outlined weekend and it is scheduled to be round 21, the round 21 fixture will be played.

Regardless of the public health order update scheduled for Friday, 9 July, Competitions administered by the Football NSW Competitions Department will not proceed this coming weekend. This will include no trial matches if the suspension on Football activities is lifted. The firm focus will be on returning to the football pitch in the safest possible manner and to afford Clubs sufficient time to plan accordingly.

Information on Postponed Fixtures/Rounds and impact on the football calendar

It is Football NSW’s aim to reschedule all fixtures that have been postponed where possible. This may include an extension to the premiership season, adjustment to the finals series and some mid-week fixtures. We are mindful of the overall impact of mid-week fixtures and do not intend to heavily load the match schedule with mid-week catch up fixtures to finish as per the current football calendar.

Please Note: the information is provided based on current circumstances and may change at Football NSW’s sole and absolute discretion at any point in time.

Football NSW would like to thank every one in the Football Family for their patience, cooperation and assistance, in the meantime, please continue to adhere to the current NSW Government and NSW Health guidelines to beat the spread so that we can return to our football fields as soon as we possibly can.
