With the Matildas taking on the World Champion USA this evening, today’s presentation from last year’s 2020 Australian Coaching Conference is a chat with two of the legends of women’s football, who were key members of the ‘golden generation’ USA National Women’s Team that would dominate the sport in the ‘90s and beyond.

On this occasion, Ms Stephanie Brantz spoke with Julie Foudy and Brandi Chastain, together with former Matildas’ coach, Tom Sermanni. Sermanni was coach of the USA team in 2014 and is now in Tokyo as coach for the Female Ferns of New Zealand.

This presentation provides a fascinating insight in to two legendary players and what made them, and the USA team they played for, so great.

With the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup less than two years away, they speak on the advantages and challenges of hosting the event on home soil, which the USA successfully did in 1999, with Chastain scoring the winning penalty in an iconic and defining moment for the game.
