Successful grants webinar held for Football NSW clubs

FNSW-and-Grants

Over 100 participants recently took part in Football NSW’s successful Grants Webinar in conjunction with ‘The Grants Guy’ representative Keith Whelan.

The Grants webinar provided all Football NSW clubs and associations with valuable information that will assist in their pursuit in seeking funding for facility upgrades for their clubs.

There were a whole host of topics covered by Whelan who focused on the Greater Cities and Regional Sports Facility Fun that is currently open for community infrastructure projects.

Other topics discussed on the evening were:

  • How to apply for the grant – the do’s and don’ts
  • Eligibility & Answering the Question
  • Project Assessment, Evaluation, Rationale, Methodology
  • Budget & Acquittal
  • Getting Grant Ready and Planning your Club’s Application

Whelan also presented some handy tips and tricks for clubs to utilise when writing their application.

His words of being clear, concise, and compelling, making a statement and backing it up with evidence was a key theme throughout the webinar.

Clubs from as far south as Albury and as far West as Dubbo joined in with several Sydney metropolitan clubs tuning in as well.

This webinar is part of a series of webinars that Football NSW in conjunction with The Grants Guy will be presenting over the coming months.

A Grants Toolkit will also be provided in the coming months to give clubs a resource for the future.

Daniel Ristic, Football NSW’s Manager Government Relations, Funding and Infrastructure was ecstatic with the number of people that tuned in to the webinar.

“The numbers that attended highlighted the importance of grant writing for football clubs across NSW,” he said.

“The Facilities and Advocacy Unit is here to provide assistance to clubs across the state and this is just one aspect or the units assistance.

“We understand that clubs are going through a difficult period at the moment with no football on the pitch due to lockdown restrictions, but this is certainly a great time for clubs to be focussing on off field aspects in particular infrastructure upgrades which are so important for community clubs.”

Clubs applying for the Greater Cities and Regional Sports Facility fund can contact Daniel as soon as possible to get a letter of support for their project if they are making an application before Friday 8 October via email on danielr@footballfacilities.com.au.
