Football NSW Referee Academy 2022 Nominations Open
Football NSW is on the lookout for any interested referees wishing to be part of the pathway to becoming an elite Match Official via the Football NSW Referee Academy.
The Football NSW Referee Academy has been set up to assist and prepare selected referees aged between 16-21 for success at Football NSW NPL Youth competitions, National Tournaments, and to potentially be identified by Football Australia to be part of the National Talent Pool as future A-League, W-League and NYL Referees.
Nominations for the 2022 season are now open.
Why join the Football NSW Referee Academy?
Previous graduates from the Referees Academy include both Referees and Assistant Referees on the W-League and National Youth League competitions, as well as A-League Assistant Referees. Graduates remain involved in the Academy setup, offering mentoring, training, and support to our current members.
The Academy experience is encapsulated by several quotes from current members.
“I really enjoy and thrive upon the learning environment that the academy creates. Training and working with an amazing group of people is both fun and rewarding.”
-Eric Saba (current Academy member)
“The program has helped me get to where I am today – having had both my WNPL1 1st Grade debut and my local men’s first grade debut this year; with my appointments to these games being largely attributed to the skills I have learnt the past two years as an Academy member.”
-Demi Goddard (current Academy member)
“The Football NSW Referee Academy is pushing me as a person and as a referee.”
-Rowan Fisher (current Academy member)
“The theory sessions are really beneficial, and I enjoy them. When receiving feedback from a game, or watching footage of a game, the thought process and considerations from the academy coaches is awe-inspiring.”
-Jackson Mackie (current Academy member)
