There will be a strong force of NSW referees, assistant referees, fourth officials and video assistant referees with the commencement of the A-League Men’s and Women’s seasons kicking off for 2021-2022 further cementing the state’s continual development of match officials.

Th A-League Men’s will showcase three referees from NSW with Ben Abraham and Kurt Ams to get their chance once more while Tim Danaskos has been promoted from the fourth official panel to referee in a massive achievement for the 30-year-old.

Ams alongside veteran and Football NSW Referees Manager Kris Griffiths-Jones will play a hand as  video assistant referees while Sarah Ho and Kearney Robinson will also play roles in this area as Assistant Video Referees.

A new addition to the A-League Men’s Fourth Official panel is Manly Warringah Football Referees Association and current Football NSW State League Referees Branch member Sam Kelly.

Scot Edeling, Andrej Giev, Lance Greenshields, Matthew McOrist, Kearney Robinson and Brad Wright will also feature as assistant referees. Joining them will be North West Sydney Football Referees Branch and Football NSW State League Referees Branch member Hugh Fenton-White along with experienced campaigner Sarah Ho who has been promoted from the A-League Women’s assistant referee panel to the Men’s.

The A-League Women’s competition will also see a rise in NSW officials as Kelly Jones along with Isabella Libri and Bec Mackie will be flying the Football NSW flag. Both Libri and Mackie have been promoted from the Fourth Official panel.

Anastasia Filacouridis, Sarah Ho, Maggie Price and Football NSW’s Referees Coordinator Emma Kocbek have been appointed Assistant Referees while fresh new faces Maddy Allum, Amber Morris and Fourth Official Mikayla Ryan have also been included.

Football NSW Referees Manager Kris Griffiths-Jones was delighted to have seen over 20 officials from the State awarded national honours in further developing their skills at the elite level.

“It’s a huge honour to see so many of our very own officials make the grade for both the A-League Men and Women’s seasons.

“It’s also a true testament to the hard work and efforts happening at ground level and its great to see the pathway that’s been created here in NSW working when seeing some of these fresh new faces given their chance to shine at national level.

“Credit must be given to our Referees Development & Education Coordinator Robert Nieuwenhuis who has done a tremendous job in developing these pathways.”

Football NSW would like to congratulate each valued official wishing them the best for the upcoming season.
