Football Australia officially announced the pathway and fixtures of the Round of 16 of the FFA Cup with the Wollongong Wolves hosting the Central Coast Mariners headlining the East Zone pairings.
Luke Wilkshire’s men will face Nick Montgomery’s troops with WIN Stadium the likely venue in what promises to be an epic battle with a healthy Wollongong crowd on hand to cheer the Wolves onto hopeful victory.
Football NSW’s two other club representatives APIA Leichhardt and Sydney Olympic also have huge matches that await should they dispose of their Round of 32 opponents.
It will be a much tougher task for Olympic who host A-League guns Sydney FC at Belmore Sports Ground next Wednesday evening while on the same night APIA travels to the Nation’s Cup to tackle Tigers FC.
Should Olympic win in what would be the biggest ‘Cupset’ in 2021, they will face A-League side Macarthur FC while for APIA, a victory in Canberra will book a date at Leichhardt Oval where they will host the Western Sydney Wanderers.
Hosted by one of Football NSW’s and the NPL NSW Men’s leading commentators in Tony Tannous, the live Round of 16 FFA Cup draw took place at Football NSW’s headquarters on Monday afternoon.
Match details including dates, kick-off times and venues will be confirmed in the coming days.
