In what’s been labelled as an exciting coup for Northern Suburbs Football Association side Kissing Point FC has come the news of the appointment of former Socceroo Steve O’Connor as the club’s new First Team Men’s Head Coach for the 2022 season.

Having been capped by the Socceroos 44 times, O’Connor was also one of the brains trust behind the AIS football factory which saw the nation’s golden generation with the likes of Mark Viduka, Brett Emerton, Marco Bresciano and Vince Grella to name a few filter through under his watch.

Kissing Point FC skipper Luke Dawson was delighted with the club’s prized coaching acquisition as he knew this move would only further the club’s expectations for a solid 2022 season.

“It’s exciting times for the club and the men’s squad.

“When you look at what Steve has achieved over his footballing career it makes sense he has moved to a great club like Kissing Point FC.

“We have a squad that is willing to learn and push themselves, and with Steve in charge we have every opportunity for silverware in 2022.”

Club Vice-President Jeremy Tucker labelled the O’Connor signing as a huge deal in the football mad area.

“With Steve as our Premier League squad coach, we have established an environment where our top players can develop to their full potential.

“At the same time, we have created an aspirational pathway for younger players.

“Our Prems are role models for our young players, they show them what’s possible and where they can go on their football journey. Steve’s appointment elevates our whole club.”

“Rocky” made 290 appearances in the NSL as a footballer but after calling time on the pitch, he took charge of several roles at various clubs as coach and technical director which saw him at Football NSW, Sydney FC, Central Coast Mariners, Wollongong Wolves, Sutherland Sharks and Hills Football Association.
