Bathurst District Football appoints new President and Vice President for 2022

Bathurst District Football have appointed a new President and Vice President for the upcoming 2022 season.

Peter Scott and Peter Mitchell were elected as the new President and Vice President respectively at the association’s annual general meeting on Tuesday, January 18.

Scott, who has served as BDF’s registrar for the past four years, assumed the position of President after the position was vacant for 2021.

After playing football since he was six, Scott is hoping to continue the growth of football in the Bathurst region.

“I was born in Scotland and started playing football when I was six-years-old. I have a love and real passion for the world game and together with the 2022 committee I want to ensure the continuing growth of football in the region,” he said.

“Even in the absence of various roles being filled, the BDF committee has always displayed resilience and worked collaboratively to manage football in the district. For the 2022 season, it is pleasing to see the vacant roles of president and Vice President filled.”

Like President, Vice President was a position that was vacant in 2021 but the position has been taken on by Mitchell.

Mitchell has been involved in football for more than two decades, having been a long-serving President of Mudgee Wolves but now involved with Gulgong Lions and the current administrator of the Western Premier League.

In 2014, Mitchell was recognised for his service to the sport in 2014 by Football NSW, when he was awarded a state award.

Scott said he’s looking forward to working with Mitchell in 2022.

“Together with the rest of the committee, I look forward to working with Peter. His experience and depth of knowledge will be a true asset for BDF and football in our region,” he said.

BDF also thanked Phil Bromhead and Roy Thomas, who both stepped down from their roles of coaching coordinator and property officer respectively.

Both played important roles in managing their respective areas, with the success of local district sides and numerous improvements to the fields and grounds a small part of their tremendous work.

In other positions, Grant Foster returned as treasurer, Andrew Rankin will continue as recorder, Kaitlyn Crook will remain the mini football coordinator, Karen Johns will continue as member protection officer and Bradley Jurd returned as publicity officer.

Scott is expected to continue his role of registrar alongside being president.

BDF will now turn its attention to the Bathurst Cup and Proctor Park Challenge, its two annual pre-season carnivals.

The boys’ Cup will be held on February 5-6, while the girls’ Challenge will be held on the following weekend on February 12-13.

The local senior and junior competitions are expected to start in April.
