The Football NSW League Two Men’s competition will have a former A-League and ex-International running around for the remainder of the 2022 season as Inter Lions have penned a deal with defender Daniel Georgievski.

The 34-year-old, who only recently retired in 2021 after winning a A-League Championship with Melbourne City, has decided to put on the boots once more assisting in Inter Lions’ fight for promotion under head coach John Theodoropoulos.

“I never really thought about playing football after hanging up the boots last year, but I had a coffee with George Paradisis, the senior TD at the club and had a chat regarding playing and it just turned on the fire in my belly to play again,” Georgievski stated to Football NSW.

“I have a great relationship with the Inter Lions club.

“I was their youth TD a few years ago, I’m affiliated with the CBFI Academy, but mainly they have just been consistently very friendly and respectful and because of this I want to give back to them and help the team get promoted to the League One Men’s competition in 2023.”

Georgievski has already hit the ground running with his new teammates including Oliver Green, Steve Katsionis, Evan Patramanis, Patrick Scibilio to name a few at the Majors Bay Reserve facility

“I’ve had a few sessions with the boys, and they have just been friendly and welcoming, exactly like the club is.

“I have to say that the intensity and hard work that they’ve showed in each session I was shocked and knew that I had to pull my socks up to get fit and ready again.

“I don’t really know too much about the league, but I think that’s a good thing as I don’t have expectations other than to play hard and win as many games to gain promotion.”

Having played for the likes of Steaua Bucharest, Melbourne Victory, Newcastle Jets, Western Sydney Wanderers, Melbourne City as well as being capped 22 times for the Macedonian National Team, Georgievski’s first hit-out will be a Round 5 home match against Dunbar Rovers at Majors Bay Reserve with kick-off set for 7pm.
