Poor spectator behaviour at junior sport is set to be addressed, with the Shoosh for Kids Winter Awareness Month kicking off this weekend.

Shoosh for Kids isn’t about staying completely silent, it’s just about making sure we’re all positive. Our messages across the campaign run across five key themes:

  • Overarching: Think before you speak
  • General participation: Keep it positive. Keep it fun.
  • Volunteer appreciation: Remember, volunteers run kids sport.
  • Respecting the officials: Respect the referee
  • Supporting the coaches: Let coaches do the coaching.

Football NSW CEO Stuart Hodge stated that this campaign is vital in ensuring kids continue to return to the sport as well as educating parents along the way.

“Football NSW has been a proud advocate of the Shoosh for Kids campaign for a number of years, and will be actively promoting the key messaging for this across May and beyond.

“Football NSW alongside numerous other State Sporting Organisations will be ensuring there are positive environments for all our members to participate in as we do each and every week when our sport is played.

“Football NSW alongside our clubs and associations will be actively participating in this awareness campaign in promoting positive behaviors, environments and most importantly enjoying another season of football.”

Shoosh for Kids Winter Awareness Month will run from kick’s off in May, with free resources available to clubs and associations that sign up throughout the campaign.
