Dates locked in for Australia Cup Round of 32 clubs

Football NSW’s four Australia Cup Representatives Bonnyrigg White Eagles, NWS Spirit FC, Sydney United 58 and Wollongong United have found out their schedules for the upcoming Round of 32 matches set to be played later this month.

League One side Bonnyrigg White Eagles will face Victorian Premier League side Oakleigh Cannons on Thursday 21st of July at the Bonnyrigg Sports Centre with kick-off set for 7:30pm.

Surprise packets Wollongong United will be representing the Illawarra Premier League when they face Victorian Premier League outfit Green Gully SC at Macedonia Park on Wednesday 27th of July at 7:30pm.

While the final two NSW teams will be in action on Wednesday 3rd of August with the Sydney United Sports Centre playing host to Sydney United 58’s match against ACT outfit Monaro Panthers at 7:30pm while League One side NWS Spirit FC travel to Queensland’s AJ Kelly Park in Kippa-Ring where they will face the Peninsula Power at 7:30pm.

Like in 2021, the Australia Cup 2022 will serve as a pathway to Asia, with the winner of the competition granted one of Australia’s slots in the Group Stage of the AFC Cup 2023. The AFC Cup is the second highest level of club football in Asia, sitting below the AFC Champions League.

The winner of the Australia Cup 2022 will be crowned on Saturday, 1 October 2022, when the Final is contested just days prior to the commencement of the eighteenth season of A-League Men.

Melbourne Victory enters the Australia Cup 2022 as the reigning Cup winners, with Tony Popovic’s chargers having won the last ever ‘FFA Cup’ contested in 2021 (Final held on 5 February 2022).
