Futsal Premier League 2 Open Men’s 2022 Season Preview

We’re back!
After a long few year away from the court, the Futsal Premier League 2 Open Mens competition is back! Eight teams are ready to kick things off this weekend and bring some furious and fast futsal action.
Let’s get onto the preview!
Boomerangs FS
Back in Futsal Premier League 2 after relegation, Boomerangs FS look to build on the success they had in the Australian Futsal Club Championship earlier in year and ideally be back in the top four. Coach Nick Van Aalst has kept much of the team from last time out. Their two additions have been Pat O’Rourke and Seb Ciminelli making their maiden voyage in NSW competition. Boomerangs are taking a long view to their success with an eye to the future which is seen in four youth products also making their way into the open side.
Phoenix Futsal Club
Phoenix Futsal Club will be ready to rise again in their adventures in the FPL2 this season. They are always one of the teams who compete well in the league and have kept much of the team who were there in their last campaign. Jordan Smylie and Ibrahim Sweedan are two names that stick out alongside Jordan Metcalfe. Cristian Berrios takes charge of the Phoenix side and will look to improve on their two-win season in 2022.
Raiders Futsal Club
Another team which featured in the FPL2 finals last campaign, Raiders Futsal Club are ready to get back into the thick of the action and compete at the highest level. Slaven Ljuboja will be coaching the side this season in a player-coach role and the side feature a lot of familiar faces to Raiders Futsal Club in recent seasons. Adam Voloder, Jovan Miladinovic and Kodai Hayashi headline those names while they have signed Luis Ferreria from SD Raiders Futsal. Also Tomas Medimurac is another name to watch for the team in their games this year.
SD Raiders Futsal
One of the perennial contenders in the FPL2 competition, SD Raiders Futsal have kept a majority of their team and are ready to play futsal. Speaking before the season Sebastian Malfara is keen to get back into action and promised his side will score goals, might concede but their games will bring some entertainment to the court. SD Raiders Futsal have made some good pickups including Martin Fernandez and Matias Toro-Suarez alongside their established players to help them achieve their results and possibly earn promotion.
South Coast Taipans
The South Coast Taipans look to sting their competition in the FPL2 Open Mens with a youthful team ready to get back into the swing of things. Bobby Mazevski once again will take the reins and one of his big moves for the campaign is bringing back goal machine Matt Mazevski from Inner West Magic. Alongside him will be Klime Sekutkoski and Giovanni Pannuci who will be a danger to the opposition defences. The Taipans will aim for consistency in their futsal after the break and break back into the top four.
Sydney City Eagles
Grand Finalists last time out, Sydney City Eagles are ready to fly high again in the 2022 season. The Eagles have maintained the core of the side and have Roy Perre at the helm once again so they are confident in more success. They boast names like Patrick and Bruno Antelmi who join the team alongside established players like Matthew Trotter, Michael Cimino and keeper John Dimitrakis as the Eagles look to go one better this season.
Sydney Futsal Club
Sydney Futsal Club like all clubs will be ready to go again and enjoy their time on the futsal court. The side finished eighth in the FPL2 last time out so they will aim for improvement on their single win from 2019-20.
West City Crusaders
Last but definitely not least, West City Crusaders finished seventh in the last FPL2 season and look to move themselves up the ladder in 2022. The Crusaders have enjoyed the break and they will be keen to get back into the action on the court. West City Crusaders are setting their sights high to make the finals with their squad.
