One weekend down, twelve to go with a big round two of Open Men’s Futsal Premier League fixtures awaiting us.

Two round one winners face off at PCYC Hawkesbury, while the three other fixtures aren’t too bad either. Let’s look at the weekend ahead!

Mascot Vipers v UTS Northside Futsal Club; Saturday 24th September, 5:30pm, PCYC Hawkesbury

A meeting between two round one winners awaits us as Mascot Vipers host UTS Northside at PCYC Hawkesbury, Saturday evening.

In round one, the Vipers edged out Eastern Suburbs Hakoah in a tight fixture between two fancied teams. Yanni Plataniotis scored the decisive goal late on after a good performance without the ball, with keeper Shane Watson also impressing. A few players yet to make an appearance in the competition, their return to the pitch will only make the Vipers stronger.

In terms of match ups this one looks a good one. Like their hosts, UTS Northside also secured a victory of a fancied Dural Warriors side. Leaving their opposition frustrated, Grant Lynch’s side were ruthless in attack scoring five to make a round one statement. Look out for Nicholas Rainbird who grabbed a brace last weekend.

Campbelltown City Quake Futsal Club v Inner West Futsal Club; Saturday 24th September, 5:30pm, Minto Indoor Sports Centre

Inner West will be looking for a bounce back victory when they travel to take on Campbelltown City Quake.

There were plenty of positive signs for Campbelltown City Quake in round one as they bounced back from a tough opening stanza of the 2022 season. Conceding four first half goals, they came out a better side after the break matching it with Enfield goalscoring wise. Rhys Osmond picked up two of those goals so keep an eye on him if you’re heading out to this one.

How good is it to have Futsal back! In perhaps the pick of last weekend’s action, Inner West just couldn’t get on top of Mountain Majik despite coming from behind on three occasions. Yes, they showed plenty of character in their 4-3 loss and with a bit of match practice on the pitch, they will surely be better for it in this one.

Mountain Majik Futsal Club v Eastern Suburbs Hakoah Futsal Club; Saturday 24th September, 6:30pm, Valentine Sports Park

Mountain Majik and Eastern Suburbs Hakoah face off in a repeat of two sides who went toe to toe in the Winter Futsal League.

The Majik come into round two following a first up victory in the battle of two sides who are sharing hosting rights at VSP. Taking the lead on four separate occasions, a Jordan Guerriero goal late in the fixture proved the decisive blow. Indeed Guerriero was one of the players who impressed most in round one joined by Jamie Dib on the scoresheet.

Eastern Suburbs Hakoah on the other hand went down to Mascot Vipers narrowly. But it’s far from panic stations inside the camp as they walked away reasonably happy with the performance, they put in. And it’s safe to say, they won’t have much trouble being motivated by a clash with familiar foes Eastern Suburbs Hakoah in an East v West showdown.

Enfield Allstars v Dural Warriors; Saturday 24th September, 6:50pm, Morris Iemma Indoor SC

Enfield Allstars host Dural Warriors in the last of our round two fixtures at Morris Iemma indoor sports centre.

It rained goals for the Allstars who put seven goals past Campbelltown City Quake at the same venue last weekend. Michael Kouta scored the first hat-trick of the season, while Edilson Da Silva, Shervin Adeli, Dean Skiadaresis and Bruno Pivato also put their names on the scoresheet. With a potentially tougher test awaiting them this week, we’re keen to see how this one goes Saturday night.

They face a Dural Warriors side who will be keen to return to the court after a round one defeat last weekend. Against UTS Northside, a lack of desperation in defense ended up costing them dearly come full time. However positives could still be taken from the game as they controlled possession and pressed well. While Carlos De Oliveira was apart of their first goal of the season.
