Round 7 in the Futsal Premier League 2 Open Men’s competition offers up a delightful feast of futsal which includes match-ups between the top four teams. That might offer the teams below a chance to make up some ground. Let’s get onto the preview!

SD Raiders Futsal vs South Coast Taipans, Saturday 22 October, 4:10pm, Fairfield Youth and Community Centre

We start the round with a cracking contest between SD Raiders Futsal and South Coast Taipans at Fairfield Youth and Community Centre on Saturday.

SD Raiders Futsal lost their first game of the year against Boomerangs FS and will look to bounce back against a strong Taipans team. Sebastian Malfara is one of their top scorers and alongside Jordan Figon and Simon Nicholas give the hosts a good base.

The Taipans have found the sting in their tail in recent weeks and won three straight to surge into the FPL2 Open Men’s top four. They have found their goal scoring boots in recent weeks so we’re set up for a cracking contest in Fairfield.

Boomerangs FS vs Phoenix Futsal Club, Saturday 22 October, 4:50pm, MPowerdome

Resurgent Boomerangs FS welcome Phoenix Futsal Club down to the MPowerdome on Saturday afternoon for an important game.

Boomerangs FS won their first game of the season in style, a 6-1 win against the previously unbeaten SD Raiders Futsal and now welcome Phoenix Futsal Club to their pitch. The hosts will hope this will start a good run for them to vault up the FPL2 Open Mens ladder.

For Phoenix Futsal Club, it will be about bouncing back after the heavy loss to South Coast Taipans down in Wollongong. Jordan Smylie has been a standout for the struggling side with 11 goals and will have to be watched by the defence.

Sydney City Eagles vs Raiders Futsal Club, Saturday 22 October, 4:50pm, Thomas Hassell Anglican College

High flying Sydney City Eagles take on neighbours Raiders Futsal Club at Thomas Hassell Anglican College on Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles are tied at the top of the FPL2 ladder after their 3-1 win against West City Crusaders away from home last weekend. Judah Cleur and Sam Perre have made constant appearances on the scoresheet and will be key this weekend.

Raiders Futsal Club will also be feeling good after their 8-1 win against Sydney Futsal Club which saw them find their clinical edge. The linkup between Adam Voloder and Christopher Godoy-Bascur was a highlight in that win and will be humming again on Saturday.

Sydney Futsal Club vs West City Crusaders, Saturday 22 October, 5:20pm, NC of Indigenous Excellence

Back at home, Sydney Futsal Club face off against West City Crusaders at the NC of Indigenous Excellence on Saturday night.

Both teams come into this game wanting to right the ship after last start losses, Sydney Futsal Club to Raiders Futsal Club while the Crusaders lost to Sydney City Eagles. For the hosts, the combination between Michael Candy and Omid Mohktar will be key.

The Crusaders won their first game of the season, against Phoenix Futsal Club but have struggled to find that rhythm again in the last few weeks. Getting a settled squad might help them get results and start to make their move.
