Round 8 in the Futsal Premier League Open Men’s competition is the start of the second half of the season and a chance for teams to make their run into the top four. There are four fantastic futsal games to enjoy over Saturday afternoon and night so let’s get onto the preview!
Boomerangs FS vs West City Crusaders, Saturday 29 October, 4:50pm, MPowerdome
Kicking off the weekend down in the capital is Boomerangs FS taking on West City Crusaders at MPowerdome on Saturday afternoon.
The Boomerangs come into this one of an impressive win against Phoenix Futsal Club where they won 7-4 and are on the edge of the top four. Michael Rinaudo has been a consistent performer for the Canberra side and will be key to another win at home.
West City Crusaders head down the highway full of confidence themselves after a 5-1 win against Sydney Futsal Club away from home. Jacob Newman will be keen for another big game after his hat-trick last week and add further to his tally.
Raiders Futsal Club vs SD Raiders Futsal, Saturday 29 October, 4:50pm, Thomas Hassell Anglican College
Another top four contest plays out between Raiders Futsal Club and SD Raiders Futsal at Thomas Hassell Anglican College on Saturday afternoon.
Coming off their 2-2 draw against the high-flying Sydney City Eagles, Raiders Futsal Club will be looking to another hard-fought win at home. Slaven Ljuboja leads the side well with his actions and motivation so they will be up for another big game.
SD Raiders Futsal are the cream of the FPL2 Open Men’s crop and look to continue their strong form in the competition. They are led well by Simon Nicholas and the play of Jordan Figon and Sebastian Malfara is key to their success.
Phoenix Futsal Club vs Sydney Futsal Club, Saturday 29 October, 5:20pm, The Centre – Dural
Two sides looking to get back in the winner’s circle clash when Phoenix Futsal Club and Sydney Futsal Club meet at The Centre – Dural on Saturday afternoon.
Phoenix Futsal Club will be keen for their home comforts after a rough few weeks in the FPL2 Open Men’s competition and in the search for three points. Jordan Smylie continues to score goals for fun with another hat-trick last week.
Regarding Sydney Futsal Club, they have a four-game losing streak coming into this contest and look at this fixture as one to get back in the winner’s circle. They will lean on Omid Mohktar and Michael Candy to help them get a result.
South Coast Taipans vs Sydney City Eagles, Saturday 29 October, 7:40pm, Illawarra Hockey Centre
We finish the round with a night cap between South Coast Taipans and Sydney City Eagles at Illawarra Hockey Centre on Saturday night.
South Coast Taipans are back at home with a tough task but they want to make their home a fortress and games like this will help that. They have the skills of Kyle Del and Cody Waller to call upon alongside Matthew Mazevski which make them a potent attack.
The Eagles have shown why they are one of the toughest teams to beat in the FPL2 competition with a comeback 2-2 draw against Raiders Futsal Club. Robert Perre is the engine that helps them get running and can be central to another three points on Saturday.
