We head into Round 9 of the Futsal Premier League 2 Open Women’s competition with a table that is packed tight between the teams from second to seventh. So, the four matches this weekend are important for the sides chasing those four spots. Let’s get onto the preview!

Sydney Futsal Club vs Boomerangs FS, Saturday 5 November, 3:45pm, NC of Indigenous Excellence

Leaders Boomerangs FS travel up to face off against Sydney Futsal Club at NC of Indigenous Excellence on Saturday afternoon.

Sydney Futsal Club takes some confidence into this game after their close 2-1 win over Phoenix Futsal Club last weekend and look to cause an upset. Isabella Hopkins was one of their goal scorers in the win and will hope to be on the scoresheet again.

For Boomerangs FS, it is all about continuing their process which has seen them be undefeated through the first half of the season. Coach Kristian Collins will have them ready to go from the opening whistle and keep the train rolling on.

West City Crusaders vs Phoenix Futsal Club, Saturday 5 November, 3:45pm, PCYC Hawkesbury

West City Crusaders welcome Phoenix Futsal Club for an important game at PCYC Hawkesbury on Saturday afternoon.

The Crusaders will be glad for their home comforts after their 6-1 loss to Boomerangs FS down in Canberra last weekend. Holly Williams was their lone goal scorer last week and is a weekly feature on the score sheet for them.

The visitors will want to repeat the dose with their only win of the FPL2 Open Women’s season coming against this opposition back in Round 2, 3-2. Kate Mateffy was on the score sheet that afternoon and will be keen to do that again in the west.

Sydney City Eagles vs SD Raiders Futsal, Saturday 5 November, 4:10pm, Thomas Hassell Anglican College

In a battle between two top four hopefuls, Sydney City Eagles welcome SD Raiders Futsal to Thomas Hassell Anglican College on Saturday afternoon.

Sydney City Eagles showed great resolve for a comeback in their 4-3 loss to a good South Coast Taipans side down in Wollongong. Christa Oliva has been a constant feature on the scoresheet and will look to do similar on Saturday.

For SD Raiders Futsal, the signing of Ashlie Crofts has given the side an injection which sees them right on the edge of the top four in the FPL2 Open Women’s competition. Her work alongside Sarah Mandile has been wonderful thus far.

South Coast Taipans vs Raiders Futsal Club, 5:50pm, Illawarra Hockey Centre

Second takes on fourth when South Coast Taipans hosts Raiders Futsal Club at Illawarra Hockey Centre on Saturday night.

The Taipans remain solidly in the top two after their 4-3 win against Sydney City Eagles which saw them lead 3-1 headed into the break. Lulu Lozano fired home a brace and her combination with Megan Grew will be vital to their chances.

Raiders Futsal Club battled hard but suffered a 3-2 loss to SD Raiders Futsal. Gemma Morgan and Ellie Smyth have struck up a good combination and look to replicate that on the pitch down in Wollongong and take the points.
