Five rounds to go, the Open Women’s Futsal Premier League season is entering crunch time. And with every result counting for something, there was plenty of action in round nine of the competition.

Dural Warriors and Mascot Vipers bounced back from their round eight results, while Campbelltown City Quake and Eastern Suburbs Hakoah continued on their winning ways. Read on to find out more.

Dural Warriors 6-0 Enfield Allstars

After a disappointing result last weekend, Dural Warriors hit back with a vengeance over Enfield Allstars.

Described as a much better performance than last week, the Warriors benefitted from the return of a couple of key players. Built on defense, it was very much on transition which saw the Warriors come out on top in this one.

In a fast start, both Skye Hill and captain Rachel Perrins exchanged goals in the opening quarter hour. Both walking away with a brace which saw them four goals to the good by half time. From there, it seemed a formality with Samantha Nagy adding another couple of goals for herself in the second half.

A solid performance which sees Dural back into second place, and there’s more to come according to coach Rob Varela.

Inner West Futsal Club 2-4 Campbelltown City Quake Futsal Club

On a bit of a run! Campbelltown City Quake scored their third straight victory prevailing over Inner West at Valentine Sports Park.

With a heavily depleted squad down to various reasons, it’s the kind of win which boosts morale with several stepping up from the younger set ups.

Peta Trimis opened the scoring early slotting home at the back post after Libby Morris found her with a ball across the face five minutes in.

And their hosts just couldn’t match the enthusiasm showed by the Quake (you could say they were rocked by it) with a second goal coming from 15-year-old Tea Mucenski. Maddie Malone and Eliza Pereira playing their roles in the buildup.

Trimis adding a third for her brace quickly following that making it six goals across all categories on the day after scoring four in the 17’s earlier.

Needing a response, Inner West hit back after the half hour. Tara Pender putting it past young keeper Olivia Noble after Breanna Clarke came off injured for the Quake. Clarke then reappearing and making several key stops in the remaining minutes.

However it was the Quakes day, and they added a fourth with a deserved goal for India Breier to cap off a tireless performance, Trimis with the assist.

Sophie Macalpine would then score a consolation and in style. A goal of the season contender on the volley which rocketed towards the top corner.

UTS Northside Futsal Club 2-4 Mascot Vipers

Third place Mascot Vipers took an away victory over second placed UTS Northside at PCYC Dee Why.

It was the perfect response for the Vipers after last weekend and sets up an enticing fixture Tuesday night against Eastern Suburbs Hakoah.

Performing above expectations, the Vipers opened the scoring after withstanding a bit of early pressure. Elizabeth Bieri on the end of a nice ball from halfway before finishing on an angle for the only goal of the first half.

A lead they extended after the break, Sarah Moore adding the second through a stunning individual effort rolling the ball past two defenders before finishing.

UTS Northside then brought it back level with a couple of quick goals. Halle Smit going it alone on a 2-on-1 break finishing at the near post. Before Tess Olsen was on hand to tap home from close range after an Ivana Rozman shot was saved into her path.

As both sides searched for a winner, it was Mascot to strike with two goals in the final ten minutes ensuring victory. Bieri with the third assisted by Sienna Fraser and Sarah Moore with a confident 1-on-1 finish after a burst of speed.

Eastern Suburbs Hakoah Futsal Club 8-3 Mountain Majik Futsal Club

Competition leaders Eastern Suburbs Hakoah were at their scoring best in defeating Mountain Majik, Sunday evening.

Surviving a flurry of goals in the early stages of the second half, Hakoah then went on to win comfortably with five unanswered goals in the final quarter hour.

As you would expect from a game which saw first play last, the hosts controlled large periods of the early stages without applying a finish. However in a theme of the game, once one came on ten minutes another goal followed. Alexia Karrys-Stahl opening the scoring on 10 minutes before Aurelia Collins doubled their advantage.

That’s not to discount the visitors who kept their fancied hosts honest for over half an hour. Savannah Murray in particular causing the hosts problems, scoring a deserved goal inside 20 minutes to take us to half time.

Marcella Santos then stepped up to make it three for the hosts before the Majik brought things level again with two quick goals to Alice Thompson.

From there, Hakoah took it to another level with five further goals. Marcella Santos finishing with a hat-trick, Karry-Stahl and Aurelia Collins with respective braces. While Gisella Pipino grabbed another goal to add to her impressive run of late.
