With finals positions and club championship points at stake, it’s heating up in the Futsal Premier League competition. With tension aplenty in round ten, we now enter the run home with a month of the season to go.

In round ten action, Inner West claimed bragging rights over top of the table Enfield, Mascot Vipers and Eastern Suburbs Hakoah won big and Mountain Majik edged out UTS Northside.

Mascot Vipers 5-1 Dural Warriors

Mascot Vipers continued their winning streak and in turn struck a blow to their oppositions finals hopes with a victory over Dural Warriors.

Three on the bounce, they have found their form at the right time despite having multiple players out injured. With special mentions going to Ethan De Melo, Conor Quilligan, Konstantinos Tsournakakis and Timothy Scott.

Also a key part in the result against an organized Dural side was their defense which held strong throughout. On the scoresheet, Tsournakakis found the net twice, one either side of half time before Ethan De Melo made it three on the half hour mark.

Wade Giovenali then brought the score back to 3-1 with his third goal in as many appearances. But in the end, it would prove consolation with Timothy Scott adding another two in the final ten minutes.

Mascot now sit in third on sixteen points on a winning streak. While it just got a little bit tougher for Dural if they hold finals hopes, they will need to keep picking up points in the club championship cause though.

Campbelltown City Quake Futsal Club 1-6 Eastern Suburbs Hakoah Futsal Club

Eastern Suburbs Hakoah showed no mercy in defeating Campbelltown City Quake in their match at Minto Indoor Sports Centre.

It’s a crucial result in many aspects as they sit equal at the bottom of the club championship alongside Inner West as well as 4th on the table in the race for finals.

Anyway on the pitch it started in the best possible fashion for the visitors scoring twice in the opening six minutes. Both coming through Lucas Vidal who went on to get a hattrick, but we’ll get to that in a second.

Campbelltown City Quake then halved the deficit through Jaidyn Dunn who also scored last weekend against Inner West.

However, the one goal lead was temporary as Hakoah went on to score another four goals. Emmanuel Tzanakes with the third, Wellington Oliveira with the fourth, Lucas Vidal claiming his hat-trick and Jonathan Lynch adding the final goal late.

Eastern Suburbs Hakoah now sit in fourth on 16 points, whereas the Quake remain winless at the bottom.

Enfield Allstars 2-3 Inner West Futsal Club

It didn’t disappoint! Enfield Allstars and Inner West played out a thriller at Morris Iemma Indoor SC with Inner West surviving a late Allstars charge to claim victory.

The best way to sum this up is a game of two halves. With the visitors comfortably the better side in the opening half before Enfield mounted a comeback in the second.

And it only took Inner West a few minutes to stamp their authority on the first half. Suleyman Bangura finishing after Christopher Zeballos poked a ball through to him with a lunging tackle.

Indeed, it was clear that they were up for this blocking almost every shot that the hosts through at them each time getting a cheer from the bench.

Their one goal lead doubled just a few minutes later, A direct ball forward drawing a defender out before Anthony Haddad slipped it past the keeper to give them their second.

Although they were shellshocked by their visitors, the Allstars began to pull themselves back into the contest with Dominic Cox, Shervin Adeli and Charles Abou Serhal all having chances.

While Inner West continued to threaten at the other end with Nathan Niski, Jono Barzel and Anthony having chances.

And the pressure paid off with Inner West adding a third, Jamal Belkadi finding the net from an angle to put them out to a crucial three goal lead as it would turn out.

Crucial cause Enfield would come back at them in the second half with Bruno Pivato reducing the deficit to two goals within seconds of the restart.

That goal changed the games momentum with Inner West threatening occasionally on the counter while the Allstars pushed to bring themselves back into it. Sherin Adeli having the pick of the opportunities from the penalty spot. The first saved by Domenic Badolato who was excellent in the Inner West goal before Adeli scored the second off the crossbar.

They couldn’t find a third though although the two goals did ensure they stay top for another week with Inner West clipping at their feet behind them.

Mountain Majik Futsal Club 2-1 UTS Northside Futsal Club

Mountain Majik picked up a much needed victory over fellow finals contenders UTS Northside in the late game, Saturday night.

After losing their past two games, it was crucial they picked up the points with four game remaining in the season.

In what was described as a “tough and physical game”, both sides were constantly a threat to each other’s goal. With the Majik opening the scoring ten minutes into the fixture, Jamie Dib the scorer for his 7th goal of the season. A lead which was doubled after the break with Marko Filipovic scoring the second goal of the game 39 minutes in.

UTS Northside were to reply three minutes after that, captain Nathan Amore scoring their goal.

The result sees Mountain Majik in fifth place while UTS Northside drop a point below them having lost four of their past five.
