Daughters and Dads Football program prepares for even bigger season in 2023
It’s been a promising debut year for the Daughters and Dads Football program that kicked off this year with bigger and better plans poised for the 2023 season.
After staging successful pilot programs in Glenwood and Lindfield, Daughters and Dads is set to return for Term 1 in 2023 with locations announced in Glenwood, Liverpool, Strathfield and the Central Coast.
The nine-week program introduces football to fathers/father figures and their daughters with quality 90-minute sessions learning a range of football and social skills.
“It has been incredible to see the success of the pilot programs in Term 4,” said Daughters and Dads Coordinator Kirsten Smith.
“Football is the first sport specific program of Daughters and Dads to reach capacity in all pilot locations which highlights the demand for female football in preparation for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup on home soil.
“After shadowing the pilot program at Speers Point, I am excited to see the program evolve and continue to increase female participation in football, empower daughters, and enhance the bond they share with their father or father figure.”
Along with locations across the Football NSW footprint, there were also locations staged at Coffs Harbour, Kotara and Swansea that were facilitated by Northern NSW Football.
The program saw fathers and father figures including stepfathers, grandfathers, uncles, older brothers and trusted family friends take part in the programs across NSW with primary school aged daughters between the ages of 5 to 12.
The program is looking at further expanding to more locations, should you be interested to facilitate this, applicants must register to attend a facilitator training day at Valentine Sports Park on Friday 13th of January from 9am to 4:30pm.
