It wasn’t just the players that enjoyed the 2023 Bathurst Cup but the coaches also as Football NSW delivered two successful coach workshops.

Over 30 coaches attended the first of the two workshops on Friday 27th of January led by Football NSW Technical Director Warren Grieve and supported by Football NSW Regional Development Andrew Fearnley.

The workshop placed a strong focus on player development as well as linking the principle of play into football training sessions and programs. The workshop involved a presentation and a practical demonstration which was greatly aided by players from the Hills Football club.

The Saturday edition saw Football NSW conduct an orientation workshop for coaches on the Football Australia Talent ID App.

Over 30 coaches were involved as they were all put to the test compiling player assessments across the Under 14’s, 15’s and 16’s during the Bathurst Cup.

“To be able to link Coach Development to Player Development added another important layer to providing valuable information encouraging coaches to create environments for players to be Adaptable, Brave and Creative,” said Football NSW’s Technical Director Warren Grieve.

“Seeing so many coaches at the Bathurst Cup willing to assist with our talent identification was very encouraging and allows us to capture more player assessments across multiple competitions.”

While Fearnley added praise to what was a great weekend for all coaches involved.

“It was very pleasing to see the number of coaches involved in the workshops, and to be able to cater for coaches that were involved at the Bathurst Cup as well as local coaches who were able to attend,” Fearnley concluded.

Football NSW will be conducting further workshops at the upcoming Proctor Park Challenge commencing on the 10th of February with Young Matildas coach Leah Blayney presenting at the CSU Gymnasium at 6:30pm, as well as bringing the workshops to other regional areas in addition to the metro zones in 2023.
