With temperatures forecast this weekend across NSW expected to reach 36°C in parts of Sydney and 42°C in regional areas reference should be made to the FNSW Hot Weather policy.

 The Beat the Heat Factsheet provides information about playing and exercising safely in hot weather.

RECOMMENDED TEMPERATURES FOR CANCELLATION OR POSTPONEMENT OF TRAINING, TRIAL GAMES AND MATCHES

Cancellation or postponement to a cooler time of the day should occur when the ambient temperature reaches:

 

For CHILDREN    32°C

For ADULTS        37°C  

Cancellation or postponement may be necessary at lower temperatures, particularly where a higher level of humidity is present.

 

TEMPERATURES FOR MODIFICATION TO FOOTBALL ACTIVITIES

Where temperatures occur within the following ranges the health and well-being of players should be closely monitored and consideration must be given to modifying the activity and increasing rest and drink breaks in shaded areas.

 

For Children        26°C to 31°C    (at 32°C the activity should be cancelled or postponed)

 

For Adults            26°C to 36°C    (at 37°C the activity should be cancelled or postponed)
