A jam-packed Valentine Sports Park was on hand to host the 2023 NWSCIS Football Cup on Tuesday 13th of June as the Mamre Anglican School (Girls) and William Clarke College (Boys) were crowned Champions.

The Girls final was an intense battle between two quality sides as the Mamre Anglican School defeated Pymble Ladies College 2-1 after extra-time. Having developed a great rivlarly between the two schools, the action and excitement was there to be seen by all.

It was just as electrifying in the Boys final as eventual winners William Clarke College took on Newington College in an eight-goal thriller. William Clarke College took a 3-0 lead inside twenty minutes before Newington miraculously clawed their way back into the match bringing it to 3-3. Newington took the lead with five minutes to go before William Clarke struck just before the full-time whistle.

The match was decided on penalties as William Clarke ran out winners in the end.

“It was a fantastic night of football that was the culmination of 5 months of competition, with over 100 school teams involved in this year’s competition,” said CDSSA Chairman and NSWCIS Football Convenor Dom Helene.

Football NSW would like to congratulate all schools for their participation and look forward to seeing them once more in 2024.
