Football NSW are delighted to announce Futsalroos Head Coach Miles Downie as a guest speaker at the 2023 Football New South Wales Coaching Conference.

Miles Downie is Football Australia’s Coach Education Lead & Head Coach of the Futsalroos. He has a master’s degree in Exercise Science, Strength & Conditioning, and is an Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Elite Futsal Fitness and Coaching Instructor.

Before working for Football Australia, Miles worked at Sydney University Sport for 19 years in various roles including High Performance Manager and Strength and Conditioning Coach for Sydney University’s Elite Athlete Program, working across a wide range of sports and with a number of Olympic athletes. He has also worked as a Casual Academic at the University.

Miles’ playing career has provided him with a unique perspective on Football and Futsal, having played Football in the NSL (albeit only a single game) and Futsal for the Australian National Team. Miles played Futsal professionally in Brazil, Portugal, and Japan (the only Australian player to have ever played in Portugal’s or Japan’s top divisions). Miles also headed up the Fitness Technical Study Group for the AFC for the 2021 Futsal World Cup.

Miles will be delivering a theory-based Futsal session on Day 2 of the 2023 Football New South Wales Coaching Conference.

The 2023 Football New South Wales Coaching Conference will be held at Valentine Sports Park on Saturday 11th & Sunday 12th November. The two-day event, hosted by well-known football personality Stephanie Brantz, will see keynote presentations given by international and domestic special guests, with a raft of experience across all levels of the game.

Coaches will once again have the opportunity to sculpt their own learning journey through a series of theory and practical break-out sessions allowing you to choose topics most relevant to your specific interests.

Football New South Wales are also pleased to confirm that ticket prices for the event will be frozen and remain the same from the 2019 conference as a commitment to coaches having access to professional development opportunities.

Coaches can purchase a one-day attendee pass (25 CPD Points) or a two-day weekend pass (50 CPD Points).

Full attendance at each day earns participants 25 points per day towards FA/AFC licence reaccreditation as per the AFC Coaching Convention.

Tickets are on sale now, with Early Bird pricing available until 5:30pm Friday, September 29th!
