Futsal Premier League 2 Open Women’s Round 8 Preview
Round 8 in the Futsal Premier League 2 Open Womens competition presents a pivotal point for teams as we stream past the halfway mark of the season.
There are four games to help us complete the weekend and shape the top four.
Let’s get onto the preview.
SD Raiders Futsal vs Sydney City Eagles, Saturday 4 November, 2:30pm, Thomas Hassall Anglican College
Kicking off the weekend is SD Raiders Futsal against Sydney City Eagles at Thomas Hassall Anglican College on Saturday afternoon.
The hosts got their second win of the season in their 4-3 Match of the Round success against Raiders Futsal Club.
It was a big win which moved SD Raiders Futsal into fifth spot on the FPL2 Open Womens ladder within striking distance of the top four.
They will look towards the swift feet of Dione King to help them pick up three points against a strong Eagles outfit.
Sydney City Eagles were beaten late by South Coast Taipans 4-3 down at Illawarra Hockey Centre last weekend.
The Eagles have one of the top goal scorers in the competition in Sheiden Jabour who has 12 goals thus far and will be keen for more.
This will be a big game between fourth and fifth in the FPL2 Open Womens competition to help decide the top four.
APIA FC Futsal vs South Coast Taipans, Saturday 4 November, 4:50pm, Valentine Sports Park
Second takes on third when APIA FC hosts South Coast Taipans at Valentine Sports Park on Saturday afternoon.
APIA FC were beaten 4-2 by the FPL2 Open Womens leaders Sydney Futsal Club at NC of Indigenous Excellence last weekend.
Despite the result, APIA FC Futsal remains in third and look to complete the season sweep against the Taipans.
Both Alyssa Walsh and Isabelle Antoniou were on target in the defeat and look to repeat the dose on Saturday afternoon.
The Taipans won their third game in a row after their 3-2 result against Sydney City Eagles at Illawarra Hockey Centre last Saturday.
Taipans coach Kyle Del has plenty of firepower to call upon in this game and make it four wins on the bounce.
Jordan Baker has been a valuable addition for the Taipans in recent weeks with her five goals to take her total to 10 for the season.
West City Crusaders vs Sydney Futsal Club, Saturday 4 November, 5pm, PCYC Hawkesbury
West City Crusaders welcome leaders Sydney Futsal Club to PCYC Hawkesbury for their game on Saturday afternoon.
The Crusaders picked up their first win of the season with a 4-2 scoreline against Phoenix Futsal Club at home.
They will head into their home game energised by that result and look to cause an upset against one of the top teams in the competition.
Their game back in Round 1 was tight before Sydney Futsal Club romped home and the Crusaders will be keen to reverse that result.
Sydney Futsal Club maintained their lead at the top because of their 4-2 win over APIA FC Futsal on their home pitch last weekend.
The leaders hold a three point lead over the Taipans and can add a further cushion if they win away from home.
Annalise Schiraldi has been a constant presence for Sydney Futsal Club in the last few seasons and hopes to lead them towards finals football.
Phoenix Futsal Club vs Raiders Futsal Club, Saturday 4 November, 5:10pm, The Centre – Dural
We finish off with Phoenix Futsal Club taking on Raiders Futsal Club at The Centre – Dural on Saturday afternoon.
Phoenix Futsal Club battled hard before they fell to a 4-2 defeat against West City Crusaders in Windsor last weekend.
The hosts head into this game buoyed by defeating them back in Round 1, 7-4 and hope to complete a season sweep.
After having some key absences last weekend due to injury and sickness, Phoenix Futsal Club hope to be full strength on Saturday afternoon.
Raiders Futsal Club featured in the Match of the Round, losing 4-3 to SD Raiders Futsal at Thomas Hassall Anglican College.
This could be a big game for Raiders Futsal Club to ignite their finals hopes if they take three points against Phoenix Futsal Club.
They will want to avenge their 7-4 loss to Phoenix Futsal Club back in Round 1 and get their second win of the season.
