1200x630 futsal PL2 preview and review 2023 rd 102

Round 10 in the Futsal Premier League 2 Open Womens competition sees us start on the road towards the pointy end of the season. There are four games to enjoy across the weekend to help sort out the top four. Let’s get onto the preview.

SD Raiders Futsal vs APIA FC Futsal, Saturday 18 November, 3:20pm, Thomas Hassall Anglican College

SD Raiders Futsal host APIA FC Futsal in their game at Thomas Hassall Anglican College on Saturday afternoon.

They might regret a lost opportunity for three points after their 6-6 draw against Sydney Futsal Club last weekend.

It was another solid performance from Jessica Neville who bagged a pair of goals in the draw to take her tally past 13 goals.

SD Raiders Futsal take a four-game unbeaten run into this game and look to extend it to five with another point.

APIA FC Futsal were tight 4-3 winners against Raiders Futsal Club at Thomas Hassall Anglican College last Saturday.

They hope that the win kickstarts another win streak for APIA FC Futsal and cements their spot in the FPL2 Open Womens top four.

Zoe Zaczek and Rosie Sullivan scored in the result and both hope to find the back of the net again on their travels.

South Coast Taipans vs Phoenix Futsal Club, Saturday 18 November, 3:40pm, Illawarra Hockey Centre

Leaders South Coast Taipans face off against Phoenix Futsal Club at Illawarra Hockey Centre on Saturday afternoon.

The Taipans laid down another marker with their 12-0 win over West City Crusaders in their trip to PCYC Hawkesbury.

It is a great time for the Taipans club. They lead both the Open Womens and Mens competitions and have an eye on silverware this season.

They were comfortable winners in the first game between the two and will aim to repeat that performance on Saturday.

Phoenix Futsal Club will be refreshed after their game against Sydney City Eagles was postponed last weekend.

The visitors have had a tough season but if they can get some results it might lift them off the bottom of the competition.

West City Crusaders vs Sydney City Eagles, Saturday 18 November, 5pm, PCYC Hawkesbury

West City Crusaders welcome Sydney City Eagles to PCYC Hawkesbury for their game on Saturday afternoon.

The Crusaders were on the wrong side of a 12-0 result against leaders South Coast Taipans at home last weekend.

Custodian Alannah Ellul will be vital to the Crusaders taking anything from this game against a potent Eagles attack.

The young side has had a tough season but hope to finish up the season with a few more wins to add to their one thus far.

Sydney City Eagles head back onto the pitch after a weekend off due to their game against Phoenix Futsal Club being postponed.

The Eagles hold onto fourth spot in the FPL2 Open Womens ladder and a result on their travels can help them hold off the chasing pack.

They will look to their top scorer in Sheiden Jabour to help them soar to the heights on Saturday afternoon.

Sydney Futsal Club vs Raiders Futsal Club, Sunday 19 November, 1:50pm, NC of Indigenous Excellence

Rounding out the weekend is Sydney Futsal Club against Raiders Futsal Club at NC of Indigenous Excellence on Sunday afternoon.

The hosts had a stirring comeback in their dramatic 6-6 draw with SD Raiders Futsal in last weekend’s Match of the Round

Sydney Futsal Club showed their resolve in the draw and can use it a building block headed into the finals in a month.

They will want to pick up three points to hopefully regain their spot at the top of the FPL2 Open Womens ladder.

Raiders Futsal Club battled hard in their 4-3 loss to APIA FC Futsal in their game at Thomas Hassall Anglican College.

They are the only team to beat Sydney Futsal Club thus far in 2023 and will want to hand them their second loss on Saturday.

Both Ivana Franulovic and Jessica Burke found the back of the net last weekend and will look to repeat the dose again.
