Futsal Premier League Open Women’s Round 12 and 13 Previews

1200x630 futsal PL preview and review 20232

There’s everything to play for in the Futsal Premier League Open Women competition ahead of round 12 and 13 this weekend with a close finals race and club championship positions still to be decided.

As such, let’s look at every team’s prospects ahead of the double header weekend.

Mountain Majik

R12: v Dural Warriors; Saturday 2 December, 3:50pm @ The Centre Dural

R13 v Boomerangs FS; Sunday 3 December, 3:30pm @ Valentine Sports Park

We start with the only side who have a buffer over sides outside the top four heading into the weekend in Mountain Majik. Five points above Mascot Vipers in fifth place, they saw a five-game unbeaten run come to an end last weekend.

One feature of their impressive season has been their ability to bounce back from defeat with a victory doing so twice already this season. Clare Holder will once again be our key player to watch in both these fixtures.

UTS Northside Futsal Club

R12: v Enfield Allstars; Saturday 2 December, 5:40pm @ PCYC Dee Why

R13: v Eastern Suburbs Hakoah; Sunday 3 December, 4:15pm @ PCYC Dee Why

After seven straight games on the road, UTS Northside finally return home for two fixtures this double header weekend. 13 of their points coming away from home this season, they have a good springboard to finish the season well.

Last weekend was a tough one for them though. Going down to Boomerangs FS in the nations capital, expect a response here. Tara Banks and Estella Cameron both earning a mention last week for stepping up from the U17’s while not looking out of place.

Dural Warriors

R12: v Mountain Majik; Saturday 2 December, 3:50pm @ The Centre

R13: v Macarthur Quake; Sunday 3 December, 3:50pm @ Minto Indoor Sports Centre

Dural Warriors will be looking to steady the ship this weekend after a round 11 defeat broke an unbeaten run. On 19 points, they still need a couple of results in their three remaining games to book finals this season.

You’d imagine there will be a particular focus on starting well against the Majik this Saturday after last weeks hiccup while Macarthur are a tough opposition the next day, look out for Nikkita Fazzari who scored a brace last weekend.

Macarthur Quake Futsal

R12: v Boomerangs FS; Saturday 2 December, 3:50pm @ Minto Indoor Sports Centre

R13: v Dural Warriors; Sunday 3 December, 3:50pm @ Minto Indoor Sports Centre

Seven points in their past three games, Macarthur Quake look to be hitting some form right when they needed too in 2023. They have a two-point advantage over the Vipers in the race for fourth while points will also be important for the club championship.

Last weekend, they prevailed over competition leaders Mountain Majik at home. In that one Dana Buttigieg impressed in goal to hold the visitors to one goal. While the creative play of Danielle Cannarella was crucial as well.

Mascot Vipers

R12: v Eastern Suburbs Hakoah; Saturday 2 December, 3:50pm @ Heffron Centre

R13: v Enfield Allstars; Sunday 3 December, 3:50pm @ Heffron Centre

Mascot Vipers find themselves struggling for consistency as they battle for fourth position. Last weekend saw them secure three points from a possible six against Dural Warriors and Boomerangs FS.

Hannah Charak continued her recent form in those games while the experience of Trudy Camilleri could be important in the final three games of the season. You would suggest they need to win at least one of these two games this weekend if they are to play finals.

Eastern Suburbs Hakoah Futsal Club

R12: v Mascot Vipers; Saturday 2 December, 3:50pm @ Heffron Centre

R13: v UTS Northside; Sunday 3 December, 4:15pm @ PCYC Dee Why

With finals very unlikely for Eastern Suburbs Hakoah in the Open Women category, attention turns to survival in the competition. And on paper, the fixtures don’t look kind this weekend as they search for their fourth win of the season.

Last weekend, they were forced to share the points with Enfield Allstars. Tamires Souza scoring two important goals as they came from behind twice. Their game against Mascot Vipers stands as their game to watch this weekend.

Boomerangs FS

R12: v Macarthur Quake; Saturday 2 December, 3:50pm @ Minto Indoor Sports Centre

R13: v Mountain Majik Futsal Club; Sunday 3 December, 3:30pm @ Valentine Sports Park

This weekend is another big one for Boomerangs FS who closed the gap at the bottom of the club championship last time out. Yes, two victories over UTS Northside and Mascot Vipers from the Open Women breathed life into that race ahead of this weekend.

As such, Saturday looks the pick of this weekend against Macarthur Quake with 11 points separating them there. As always Natalie and Stella De Marco will play a major role if they are to win again this weekend.

Enfield Allstars

R12: v UTS Northside, Saturday 2 December, 5:40pm @ PCYC Dee Why

R13: v Mascot Vipers, Sunday 3 December, 3:50pm @ Heffron Centre

Round eleven saw Enfield Allstars go close to a victory once again in this competition. A side who has come a long way in recent times, they have gone blow for blow with Eastern Suburbs Hakoah and Macarthur Quake in recent weeks.

They will fancy their chances in both these fixtures, but Sunday’s fixture looks the more likely on paper. Look out for Lorena Munoz Bravo who will lead their attack, while young Issabella Coelho continues to impress in goals week to week.
