Football Unites on International Day of People with Disability
The collaborative efforts of the Northern Suburbs Football Association (NSFA), North West Sydney Football (NWSF), and Hills Football Association (HFA) unfolded in a triumphant celebration of the International Day of People with Disability (IDPWD) event held on Sunday, December 3.
The day, dedicated to fostering inclusivity in football, witnessed a remarkable turnout and impactful progress for those involved.
“Every year we embrace the partnership between NSFA, NWSF, and HFA and are proud to welcome everyone to our Home Of Football,” said David Neale, NSFA Community Football Manager.
“Our associations value the opportunity to strengthen the benefits of Inclusion opportunities offered for our members. This day highlights the accessible nature of our sport and shows what can be achieved by providing programs for all to participate in.
More Than 30 Players and 12 Coaches Enrich the Day
Over 30 enthusiastic players graced the event, contributing to the vibrant atmosphere and embodying the true spirit of unity. The diverse group of participants from St Ives FC, Castle Hill United FC, Pink Program and Ryde Panthers FC showcased that individuals of all abilities can gather around one common passion, football.
The commitment to inclusivity extended beyond the players to the coaches, with 12 individuals undergoing the MiniRoos Coaching Certificate. This initiative aimed to empower coaches with valuable skills and insights into inclusive coaching practices, furthering our dedication to creating a supportive environment for every player, regardless of age or ability, at training sessions and match days.
Walking Football Showcase: Berowra FC and West Pymble FC
Adding a unique dimension to the event, Walking Football players from Berowra FC and West Pymble FC joined to highlight further adaptations possible for all football participants. Their participation emphasised the inclusivity of the sport, demonstrating that football truly has a place for everyone.
NTRA: A Perfect Venue with Future Enhancements
The North Turramurra Recreation Area fields provided an ideal setting for the IDPWD event, contributing to the overall success of the day. While the current facilities are commendable, there is anticipation for planned upgrades that will enhance the experience for all. The addition of shade and accessible seating aligns with our commitment to ensuring a comfortable and inclusive environment for all participants.
