Round 19 Match of the Round: Northern Tigers v UNSW FC; Saturday 8th June, 6:30pm, North Turramurra Recreation Area

Our round 19 match of the round takes us to Sydney’s northern suburbs as Northern Tigers host UNSW FC at North Turramurra Recreation Area.

It’s an intriguing contest with the hosts having a week off while UNSW FC come into the game in red hot form. Northern Tigers also taking out the first meeting between the two in the reverse fixture.

We’ll start this mini preview with the Tigers who have just one win in their last five games. A tough period of the season, their last fixture came back on the 25th of May against Rydalmere Lions where they settled for a share of the points.

Indeed it is also important to note their last three games have been played away from home, hence a potential reason for their struggles. Back to the Rydalmere game and it was Lachlan Lloyd who once again stepped up for the Tigers, Lloyd a reliable outlet for the TIgers this season starting 15 games, so his our player to watch in this one.

The fortunes of UNSW FC couldn’t be much more of a contrast to their hosts. Three wins in their last four games, they are pushing right up the ladder heading into the final ten games. It’s no surprise then that this turnaround has corresponded with them getting their best team on the pitch.

Last time out, they put in a composed performance against Dunbar Rovers at home with Gabriel Lopez and Matias Da Silva Santos both scoring. Both those players important to their rise up the table, Lopez in central midfield while Da Silva Santos provides an x factor.

All other fixtures round 19 fixtures can be found on the Football NSW competitions website and we’ll have the usual review for you this Sunday.
