NSW Metro winning spree continues at National Youth Championships Girls
Thick fog greeted competitors for the second day of the National Youth Championships Girls’ Tournament at the Home of the Matildas in Melbourne.
When the fog finally lifted, it revealed a thrilling day’s action with NSW teams continuing their campaigns to progress out of the group stage of the tournament.
For the Football NSW U15 and U16 Girls’ Metro teams, it was two wins from two on their second day of competition.
The Under 15s defeated the Invitational XI 4-1 in Group A, with all five goals scored by Football NSW representatives. Jada Taylor, Gabriella White, Matilda Dias Wadewitz and Claire Corbett netted for NSW Metro while Summer Smith claimed the Invitational XI’s consolation goal.
In the U16s Group A, NSW Metro continued their impressive start to the tournament with another dominant display to defeat Queensland Silver 4-0. A brace for Eliza Familton, a goal for Milla Singleton as well as a Queensland own goal cemented a 15-0 goal record over two matches.
It was a challenging day for both NSW Country teams with the U15s going down to a strong Queensland Maroon outfit 5-1 in Group C, while the U16s were narrowly defeated by Queensland 3-2.
