League ONE Womens Preview Round 23

Round 23 in the Football NSW League One Women’s competition enters the medal stages of the league in the final month.

There are seven games to run the rule over which can shake up the competition headlined by Bankstown City Lions FC hosting Blacktown City FC in the Match of the Round.

Match of the Round: Bankstown City Lions FC vs Blacktown City FC

Bankstown City Lions FC host Blacktown City FC in their game down at Jensen Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Lions grinded to a 2-1 win against South Coast Flame FC at Jensen Park to cement third last weekend.

Keeley Segavcic has been a calming presence in goal for Bankstown City Lions FC since joining them mid-season.

Up front, Aya Seino is running away with the Golden Boot and she will be keen to finish the season with a goal scoring flourish.

Blacktown City FC were beaten 3-0 against Marconi Stallions FC in their game at Marconi Stadium.

It has been a tough month for Blacktown City FC but they will head into this game looking to cause an upset.

They will look towards Eloise Hansen and Claire Szymoniczek to push them forward and find the back of the net.

This game will be streamed live on the Football NSW YouTube channel and will have Inter Lions FC u20s and media superstar Annabelle Banfield on the call.

South Coast Flame FC vs Nepean FC, Saturday 3 August, 7:15pm, Sir Ian McLennan Park

South Coast Flame FC face off against Nepean FC down at Sir Ian McLennan Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Flame burned brightly before losing 2-1 to Bankstown City Lions FC at Jensen Park last weekend.

They have shown in patches that they can be a contending team and Flame will look to add three points on Saturday.

Emily Kostovski found the back of the net in the loss and she has been a key cog in their attack this season.

Nepean FC were beaten 3-0 by fourth place Hills United FC in their game at Cook Park last weekend.

It was a big moment for reserve keeper Maddison Machon who came on early in the contest to make her debut for the club.

The young side has endured a tough season but coach Joseph Ellul will hope the side can finish this last month on a high.

Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC vs Marconi Stallions, Sunday 4 August, 3pm, Popondetta Park

League ladders Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC take on Marconi Stallions FC at Popondetta Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Town Rangers won 3-0 against a dogged Camden Tigers FC outfit at Ron Dine Reserve last Sunday.

Mt Druitt holds onto top spot on their lonesome headed into the final month and can eye the silverware at the end of the season.

Trudy Camilleri has provided some valuable goals for the Town Rangers since joining and adds further class to their title challenge.

Marconi Stallions FC picked up a solid 3-0 win against Blacktown City FC at Marconi Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Stallions will gallop into this game confidently after two good results and hope to upset the applecart.

It will be a big game for the Stallions backline helmed by Emma Voloder and goal scorer Sarah Urquhart to shut down the leaders potent attack.

Central Coast Mariners FC vs South East Phoenix FC, Sunday 4 August, 3pm, Pluim Park

Central Coast Mariners FC face off against South East Phoenix FC down at Pluim Park on Sunday afternoon.

The Mariners were beaten 4-0 by St George FC in the their game at Barton Park on last Sunday night.

This is a big week for Central Coast with the distance derby and their catch-up game against SD Raiders FC which will decide their finals fate.

They will lean on Ava-Marie Carlson to find the back of the net alongside Claire Denning in this game.

South East Phoenix FC battled hard but lost 2-1 to Inter Lions FC down at South Nowra Football Complex.

Sarah Kilby was the lone goal scorer in the defeat and the attacker has led Phoenix from the front this season.

South East Phoenix FC missed a few chances in the loss and they hope to turn those into goals on the weekend.

Inter Lions FC vs Camden Tigers FC, Sunday 4 August, 3pm, Majors Bay Reserve

Inter Lions FC welcome Camden Tigers FC to Majors Bay Reserve for their game on Sunday afternoon.

The Lions had a morale boosting 2-1 win against South East Phoenix FC down in Nowra last weekend.

Emma Chiew was on the scoresheet for the Lions in the success and she will be hungry for further goals.

The Lions hope that win can propel them to a strong end to the season and move up the League One Women’s ladder.

Camden Tigers FC battled hard before losing 3-0 to league leaders Mt Druitt Town Rangers FC at home.

The Tigers had a massive 6-0 win in the earlier game against the Lions so they will hope to prevail in the battle of the big cats again.

Camden sit 11th in the League One Women’s competition and if they hold their position it will be their highest finish in their existence.

Sutherland Strikers FC vs St George FC, Sunday 4 August, 3:30pm, Harrie Denning Centre

Sutherland Strikers FC host St George FC in the local derby at Harrie Denning Centre on Sunday afternoon.

The Strikers played out an entertaining 5-5 draw against high flying SD Raiders FC on their home turf last weekend.

Bowral superstar Georgie Lewis has been a livewire down the wing for Sutherland Strikers FC this season and she will look to find the back of the net on Sunday.

They were hit for six in the first derby encounter in Round 10 so the Strikers will be hoping to serve up a big performance.

St George FC had a strong 4-0 win against Central Coast Mariners FC in the night cap at Barton Park Sunday night.

Janan Codmani fired home a hat-trick in the result and she has been a key contributor for St George FC this season.

The Saints remain in the chasing pack and need points so that adds some extra spice to this local derby.

Hills United FC vs SD Raiders FC, Sunday 4 August, 3:45pm, Bella Vista Public School

Hills United FC take on SD Raiders FC in an important game at Bella Vista Public School on Sunday afternoon.

The hosts had a comfortable 3-0 win against Nepean FC in their game at Cook Park last Sunday afternoon.

Kaylie Shannon is Hills United FC’s top scorer this season with 23 goals and she will be keen to find the back of the net again.

Custodian Sarah Easthope has been a dominant feature again this season and she can be the difference on Sunday.

SD Raiders FC featured in the Match of the Round and were involved in a 5-5 draw against Sutherland Strikers FC.

Isabella Sultan curled home a wonderful free-kick for SD Raiders FC’s first goal and she will be ready for another superb strike.

The visitors were beaten 2-0 back in Round 10 and they will be look for revenge alongside a vital three points in the finals chase.
