Referees ready for 2024 NPL NSW Grand Finals
Football NSW has announced the match officials that will take charge of the NPL Men’s and Women’s NSW First Grade Grand Finals, to be played at CommBank Stadium on Saturday, September 7th.
The NPL Women’s NSW match, kicking off at 2pm, will be refereed by Isabella Mossin. Mossin began refereeing with her local branch, North West Sydney Football Referees Association, before rising through the NSW pathways as part of both the FNSW Referee Development Panel and Referee Academy.
A regular on the NPL Women’s NSW competition for a number of seasons and appointed to the 2023 Grand Final as the fourth official, Isabella was selected for the A-League Women’s competition as a fourth official for the 2022/2023 season, before taking charge of her first ALW match in December 2023. Isabella will be supported by assistant referees Alexis Johnson and Alana Zic.
Alexis Johnson is an experienced assistant referee (originally from Nepean Referees Group) who also featured in the 2023 NPL Women’s NSW Grand Final as an assistant and was named the 2023 FNSW Assistant Referee of the Year. In 2024 she was selected as a part of the Football Australia Referee Academy and also featured on her first ALW match as an AR.
Alana Zic’s (Hills Football Referees) appointment to the Grand Final recognises her performance throughout the 2024 season including her achievement at National Youth Championships – Girls 2024 in Melbourne, where she was named the U16s Referee of the Tournament by Football Australia.
Molly Godsell (Nepean Referees Group) will be the fourth official, rounding out the crew with her experience on the ALW as both a fourth official and a referee this year. Hamish Little has been appointed as the referee coach.
The NPL Men’s NSW 2024 Grand Final, kicking off at 6pm, will be refereed by Sam Kelly. He began refereeing with Manly Warringah Football Referees Association and quickly progressed through the RDP, FNSW Referee Academy and onto the National Youth League.
From there, Sam has featured as a fourth official on the A-League Men’s competition as well as numerous Australia Cup fixtures as the referee. In 2023, Kelly was appointed to the Waratah Cup Final and was awarded FNSW Men’s Referee of the Year.
Supporting Sam are assistant referees Cameron Wright and Patrick Teleki; both bringing their seasons of experience on the NPL Men’s NSW competition to the big dance at CommBank.
Patrick Teleki (Blacktown City Soccer Referees Branch) has been a consistent performer on the NPL Men’s NSW competition as an assistant referee for a number of seasons and was previously involved in the NYL. Patrick worked alongside Cam Wright and Sam Kelly for the 2023 Waratah Cup Grand Final so will be well prepared for the upcoming fixture.
Cam Wright (Macarthur District Football Referees Association) is also well prepared for the match given his history on finals appointments. Alongside his 2023 Waratah Cup Final allocation, he was also appointed at Assistant Referee on the 2022 NPL Men’s NSW Grand Final and in 2023 was awarded FNSW Assistant Referee of the Year.
Rounding out the on-field crew is experienced official Danny Horstead who has been appointed as the fourth official. John Parker has been appointed as the referee coach.
“Congratulations to all appointed officials,” said FNSW Referees Education and Development Manager, Emma Kocbek.
“It’s a testament to each of their performances on and off the field during the season to be appointed to the Grand Final.”
