2024 FPL2 Women Preview RD9

Round 9 in the Futsal Premier League 2 Open Women’s competition offers up some intriguing matchups for the upcoming weekend.

The three games all have importance and will help to shape the top four headed into next month.

Let’s get onto the preview.

West City Crusaders vs APIA FC Futsal, Saturday 2 November, 3:40pm, PCYC Hawkesbury

West City Crusaders face off against APIA FC Futsal down at PCYC Hawkesbury on Saturday afternoon.

The Crusaders produced a spirited comeback to win 4-3 against Phoenix Futsal Club in Dural last weekend.

This game is a big chance for Crusaders to move into the top four if they can beat APIA FC Futsal on their home turf.

Paris Vinuya bookended the comeback with goals and she continues to have an eye for goals this season.

APIA FC Futsal were the latest victim of leaders SD Raiders Futsal in their 6-3 loss at home last weekend.

The visitors will be confident headed into this game after thumping Crusaders 7-1 last time they met back in Round 2.

Both Lexi Modena and Alice Bowles were in fine form last weekend and want to repeat the dose on Saturday.

SD Raiders Futsal vs Phoenix Futsal Club, Saturday 2 November, 2:50pm, Thomas Hassell Anglican College

SD Raiders Futsal take on Phoenix Futsal Club at Thomas Hassell Anglican College on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts continued their hot form with a 6-3 win against APIA FC Futsal to take their unbeaten run to seven games.

Layne Knight fired home four goals in the win showing that SD Raiders Futsal have attacking options across the pitch.

SD Raiders Futsal hope to replicate their huge win against Phoenix Futsal Club back in Round 2, taking another leap towards the title.

Phoenix Futsal Club were beaten 4-3 by a second half blitz from West City Crusaders last weekend.

Despite the loss, Phoenix Futsal Club hope to take the positives from the first half to build on for this weekend.

Georgina Sarkissian scored twice in that first half rampage and she hopes to add to her four goals thus far in the 2024 campaign.

Macarthur Quake Futsal Club vs Raiders Futsal Club, Saturday 2 November, 2:50pm, Minto Indoor Sports Centre

Macarthur Quake Futsal Club welcome Raiders Futsal Club to Minto Indoor Sports Centre on Saturday afternoon.

The Quake return to the pitch after the weekend off due to the bye and ready for Futsal Premier League 2 Open Women’s action.

They will be looking to build on their first point which was earned in a 5-5 draw against Phoenix Futsal Club.

Angelique Lynch has eight goals for the Quake thus far this season and she will be keen to add more tallies.

Raiders Futsal Club were held to a 3-3 draw against Sydney Futsal Club in the Match of the Round last weekend.

The combination between Gemma Bartolillo and Amelia Savetta was in fine form in the draw and will be tough to stop again.

Raiders Futsal Club build their work on defence and if they can replicate their shot blocking again on Saturday they will go close to another win.
