Round 14 in the Futsal Premier League 2 Open Men’s competition was a fitting finale to what has been a pulsating season. The top four is locked in after a wonderful weekend which saw APIA FC Futsal and Raiders Futsal Club confirm their spots.

The Match of the Round saw Raiders Futsal Club taking on SD Raiders Futsal.

Match of the Round: Raiders Futsal Club vs SD Raiders Futsal

Raiders Futsal Club drew 5-5 against SD Raiders Futsal at Thomas Hassell Anglican College on Saturday afternoon.

Raiders Futsal Club got the job done to get into the finals for the 2024 season. Goran Ljuboja and Judah Cleur had braces in the win while Tomas Medimurac was their other goal scorer in the result.

The young SD Raiders Futsal side finishes the season on a high with a point in an entertaining draw. Sebastian Tamayo and Hugo Araya netted the first half while Ibrahim El Khoury, Junaid Codmani and Dylan Pullicino helped them get the draw with second half strikes.

Raiders Futsal Club started the game in strong fashion and made it 1-0 in the 5th minute. Goran Ljuboja controlled the ball well before firing home.

The hosts continued to push for further goals. Terry Bradshaw cushioned a reverse pass for Sebastian Malfara who whipped it wide.

Next, Goran Ljuboja went close again. He spun past his defender and sent at effort right at SD Raiders Futsal keeper Ibrahim El Khoury.

SD Raiders Futsal started to heat up themselves through Jack Hanzis and Dylan Pullicino. The pair exchanged passes but were thwarted by Raiders Futsal Club keeper Ibrahim Daniel.

The visitors made it 1-1 in the 12th minute. Tamayo worked the combination Christian Jolevski before the former rocketed home.

Raiders Futsal Club responded to the equalizer with a pair of efforts. Judah Cleur rattled the post then Slaven Ljuboja shot over.

The game kept up a high pace headed towards the break. Junaid Codmani sent a free-kick over for SD Raiders Futsal then Slaven Ljuboja had a shot tipped over by El Khoury.

SD Raiders Futsal made it 2-1 in the 19th minute. Dylan Ramos punched a pass towards Hugo Araya who turned home.

Coming out of the break, Raiders Futsal Club felt just fine. Slaven Ljuboja fizzed in a cross which Tomas Medimurac tapped home for 2-2 in the 22nd minute.

In a flash, it was 3-2 for Raiders Futsal Club. Cleur rolled his defender with ease and arrowed home in the 22nd minute.

SD Raiders Futsal used the powerplay to their advantage in the second half. They worked the ball around and El Khoury smashed wide as the extra man.

Raiders Futsal Club made it 4-2 in the 24th minute. Kodai Hayashi had his initial shot saved then Goran Ljuboja was there on the rebound to turn home.

They kept pushing forward to extend their lead and ensure three points. Hayashi and Malfara both had efforts saved then Cleur hit the post.

SD Raiders Futsal pulled it back to 4-3 in the 30th minute. They were on the powerplay again and it fell to El Khoury in the sweeper role and the custodian blasted home.

That spurred them on to chase for the equalizer again. Jolevski had their best chance when he rattled an effort against the post.

They did make it 4-4 in the 34th minute. It was a solo effort from Codmani, he weaved past a tackle then poked the ball into the net.

Raiders Futsal Club snatched back the lead in the 35th minute. Hayashi provided the pass for Cleur to finish well for his second of the game and made it 5-4.

SD Raiders Futsal showed good fight again to make it 5-5 in the 38th minute. Ramos provided the cutback for Pullicino to sweep home.

The hosts had two late chances to take the win. Slaven Ljuboja hit the post with a free-kick then took a 10-metre penalty which also hit the woodwork.

APIA FC Futsal 5 defeated Sydney Futsal Club 2

APIA FC Futsal were 5-2 winners against Sydney Futsal Club down at Valentine Sports Park on Saturday afternoon.

That result puts APIA FC Futsal in third spot and make the finals at the expense of West City Crusaders. Bilal Belkadi made it 1-0 in the 7th minute for the hosts before Dion Kellis equalized in the 12th minute for 1-1. Belkadi added a second in the 14th minute to give APIA FC Futsal a 2-1 lead at the break.

Marcus Sparacino made it 3-1 in the 27th minute then Belkadi completed his hat-trick in the 29th minute for 4-1. He added a fourth goal to his tally for 5-1 in the 35th minute before Sydney Futsal Club brought it back to 5-2 through an own goal in the 38th minute.

Phoenix Futsal Club 1 defeated by Macarthur Quake Futsal Club 2

Macarthur Quake Futsal Club won 2-1 against Phoenix Futsal Club at The Centre – Dural on Saturday afternoon.

The Quake side have won four games on the spin which has them lodged firmly in second spot on the Futsal Premier League 2 Open Men’s ladder. Alexander Purves made it 1-0 for the Quake in the 16th minute then Connor Irwin scored for 2-0 in the 19th minute.

Phoenix Futsal Club battled hard in the second half and pulled a goal back from Angus Till in the 26th minute to make it 2-1. Quake were able to see out the rest of the game without incident and took home three points.

West City Crusaders had the bye
