Round 14 in the Futsal Premier League 2 Open Women’s competition saw the season finish in superb fashion with plenty of drama and action.

The three games were all competitive contests across Saturday afternoon including the Match of the Round between Raiders Futsal Club and SD Raiders Futsal.

Let’s get onto the review.

Match of the Round: Raiders Futsal Club 5 defeated by SD Raiders Futsal 7

SD Raiders Futsal won 7-5 against Raiders Futsal Club at Thomas Hassell Anglican College on Saturday afternoon.

Raiders Futsal Club put up a game effort against the leaders before the finals next weekend. Nicole Ossio led the way with a double then Brittany Hammond and Hope Cleur found the back of the net alongside an own goal.

SD Raiders Futsal finished a great regular season with their 11th win of the season. Layne Knight, Miriam Zumaya and Jessica Neville had braces while Ellie-Leigh Lontis rounded off the win with a goal.

Raiders Futsal Club made it 1-0 in the first minute. The ball pinged around before it was turned home by an SD Raiders Futsal player for an own goal.

Next, Raiders Futsal Club custodian Jasmine Crouch was called into action twice and she made two terrific saves.

That led to a chance for Nicole Ossio downfield who missed a close-range effort as the game started in fast fashion.

Miriam Zumaya went close for SD Raiders Futsal. She went past a defender then rattled the post, soon followed by a shot which was turned over by Crouch.

Raiders Futsal Club had a chance to double their delight through Angelina Powell. She had a free-kick which SD Raiders Futsal keeper Dione King tipped over.

SD Raiders Futsal levelled the game in the 11th minute. Layne Knight swept home on the rebound to make it 1-1.

The visitors quickly made it 2-1 in the 13th minute. It was Knight again who unfurled an effort which rolled into the net.

Ossio continued to be the outlet for Raiders Futsal Club. She had a shot which deflected off a defender and hit the post.

Next, Jessica Neville sent through a pass for Georgia Bromfield who was unable to fire past Crouch.

Raiders Futsal Club made it 2-2 in the 16th minute. Ossio punched through a low shot which went into the net.

It was SD Raiders Futsal that took a lead into the break. A Jessica Neville shot was saved then fell right to Zumaya who fired home for 3-2 in the 19th minute.

The hosts looked to start fast again in the second half. Ossio surged down the pitch but couldn’t direct her effort home.

Zumaya made it 4-2 for SD Raiders Futsal in the 24th minute. She shimmied past a defender and rolled home for her second goal of the contest.

SD Raiders Futsal made it 5-2 in the 25th minute. Abigail Boag delivered a precise corner for Neville to tap home.

Crouch came up big in three spots to keep the hosts in the game. She denied Knight, Neville and Isabella Sultan in quick succession.

Buoyed by those saves, Raiders Futsal Club brought it back to 5-3 in the 33rd minute. Brittany Hammond showed off good control and fired into the goal.

They further cut into the deficit in the 36th minute through Hope Cleur. She swept home from a cutback to make it 5-4.

Crouch made another big stop in the one-goal game. Zumaya was bearing down for the hat-trick but she made the save.

SD Raiders Futsal made it 6-4 in the 38th minute through Ellie-Leigh Lontis. She unfurled a powerful effort from the left touchline which singed the net.

Goals kept flowing in this game as Raiders Futsal Club brought it back to 6-5. Ossio broke free from the defense and rolled home for her second goal in the 38th minute.

The visitors settled the game late and made it 7-5. Zumaya turned provider for Neville who finished well to join the brace club in the 38th minute.

APIA FC Futsal 3 defeated by Sydney Futsal Club 6

Sydney Futsal Club were 6-3 winners against APIA FC Futsal at Valentine Sports Park on Saturday afternoon.

The visitors made it nine games unbeaten as they head into the finals next weekend. Golden Boot Cynthia Coghlan made it 1-0 for Sydney Futsal in the 2nd minute then Aya Seino levelled for APIA FC Futsal in the 8th minute for 1-1.

Mia Nataly gave Sydney Futsal Club a 2-1 lead in the 9th minute before Alessia Dal Pane equalized for APIA FC Futsal in the 16th minute for 2-2. Nataly handed Sydney Futsal Club a 3-2 lead at the break after her 19th minute goal.

Sydney Futsal Club made it 4-2 in the 31st minute through Liana Calabro then Yumeka Yajima brought it back to 4-3 in the 33rd minute. Coghlan made it 5-3 for Sydney Futsal Club in the 35th minute then Ashley Limnios added the icing for 6-3 in the 38th minute while Isabella Stinziani was sent off late for APIA FC Futsal.

Phoenix Futsal Club 3 defeated Macarthur Quake Futsal Club 2

Phoenix Futsal Club won 3-2 against Macarthur Quake Futsal Club at The Centre – Dural on Saturday afternoon.

The hosts finish a tough season on a high with three points and finish sixth on the Futsal Premier League 2 Open Women’s ladder. Quake made it 1-0 in the 14th minute through Pyper Pearson then Angelique Lynch scored for 2-0 in the 19th minute.

Phoenix Futsal Club rose from the ashes in the second half to take three points. Sage Melhem brought it back to 2-1 in the 21st minute then Georgina Sarkissian tied the game in the 36th minute for Phoenix Futsal Club. Adisyn Lopez made it 3-2 for the hosts in the 37th minute to complete the turnaround.
