The best is yet to come as the Northern Suburbs Football Association (NSFA) prepare on what will be one of the most exciting seasons yet.

With 2025 player registrations in full swing, the NSFA will be looking at further capitalising its growth in player participation for the upcoming year.

“The NSFA is committed to building on the success and lessons of 2024 with a focus on inclusivity, innovation, and sustainability,” said NSFA’s Chief Operating Officer David Taylor.

The following initiatives will be the foundation of the Association’s efforts in further growing football across all levels across the NSFA.

The completion of NSFA’s ‘Home of Football’, North Turramurra Recreation Area (NTRA) is top of the list with the state-of-the-art facility set to be unearthed.

Taylor stated that the Association was also looking at other facility upgrades from across the NSFA landscape.

Collaborations with local councils have been on-going as we focus on enhancing existing fields and developing new ones.

“Planned upgrades including eco-friendly turf installations and expanded use of all-weather fields, ensuring year-round play regardless of weather challenges have all been suggested.”

The NSFA will be looking at expanding gender-inclusive programs such as Girls MiniRoos, Junior Girls and Women’s competitions through targeted outreach and retention strategies via the relaunched 2024-26 “What’s Best For Her” initiative.

Both the All-Abilities Programs and Walking Football will also be targeted as NSFA look set to host Frame Football and the Pararoos Development Centre at NTRA.

School engagement and grassroots programs will also be keenly looked at in 2025 with competitions such as the Sutton Cup, Paul Davies Cup, Thea Slatyer Cup and the Skellern Cup set to expand with the hope of engaging with even more young players, providing pathways from schools to clubs and introducing new players to football.

On the Coach Education front, the NSFA will expand its offerings with more grassroots courses and tailored workshops, ensuring coaches across all levels have the skills to nurture talent and retain players in 2025.

While finally Taylor explained that the NSFA were aiming to better its Cultural and Competitive excellence in 2025.

“We will be relaunching the RESPECT Campaign this year putting a strong focus on improving player and spectator behaviour which will foster an enjoyable environment for all.

“Equal to that we will look at having more inclusivity in our competitions. We will do this by introducing new formats and expanding age groups, including Girls JDL U10 and additional Women’s competitions which will enhance participation and competition quality,” Taylor ended.
