With community football registrations in full swing, the Nepean Football Association is looking towards emulating its success experienced during the 2024 season with a continuation of healthy player numbers.

Long serving football administrator and Nepean FA CEO Linda Cerone echoed the sentiments on how the area sustained positive growth, especially within the female space, as the association sets its sights with its objectives on going one step better this season.

“We were extremely pleased with the unprecedented growth we experienced in 2024,” Cerone told Football NSW.

“It was the largest annual growth rate we had seen as an association in more than 28 years.

“There is no doubt that the growth we experienced in female football can in many ways be attributed to the successful 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

“The Nepean District has produced its fair share of Matildas, and we look forward to continuing to do so long into the future.

“The 2025 season will be a year of adjustment as we settle our clubs into the new play football system. We are confident that with the training that was delivered in 2024 and support that we, along with Football NSW supply to our clubs, that the 2025 registration period will be relatively smooth running.

“In 2025, we look forward to further promoting our Academy to interested members. We are currently awaiting the appointment of a new football development manager and once appointed, we look forward to the fresh developments that that role will deliver to our players and coaches.”

Nepean FA Sports Administrator Cheryl Lynch outlined one of the major initiatives the Association will be driving during the 2025 season.

“One of the major 2025 initiatives by Nepean FA is collaborating with clubs and players to reintroduce the Over 30 Women and Over 45 Men’s leagues. This effort aims to allow players to compete at their own pace, ensuring that everyone can continue to enjoy the game they love.

“Let’s make it happen! It would be fantastic to keep players playing and continue to grow our vibrant football community.”
