APIA, Northern Tigers and Sydney United 58 book their Australia Cup Round of 32 tickets

APIA Leichhardt FC, Northern Tigers and Sydney United 58 will represent Football NSW at this year’s Hahn Australia Cup Round of 32 following their round 7 Preliminary Round victories played on Wednesday evening.
It was the Lachlan Lloyd show at North Turramurra Recreation Area as League One Men’s side Northern Tigers created club history earning themselves their first ever Australia Cup Round of 32 entry following a comprehensive 4-1 win over Hills United. Lloyd scored a memorable hat-trick along with a Jesse Spang goal that cancelled out Yuki Kanai’s consolation as the Tigers celebrated their first ever round of 32 showing.
Sydney United Sports Centre saw League Two Men’s side Granville Rage send a minor scare to NPL Men’s NSW Cup heavyweights Sydney United 58 although the Reds came out on top with a 1-0 win. Asmir Kadric hit the post for the visitors in the first half, but it was Mason Wells who settled the match coming on as a substitute scoring the only goal of the match. United 58 made their own history as they made their eighth Round of 32 Cup appearance which is more than any other NPL side in Australia.
While finally at Lambert Park, the Derby d’italia saw APIA Leichhardt FC knock out 2024 Champions and current NPL Men’s NSW league leaders Marconi Stallions 3-2 in a pulsating affair. Seiya Kambayashi got the hosts going with a goal in the 32nd minute before Jordan Segreto added a second two minutes from the break. Franco Maya banged in an early goal in the second half to set the scene for the visitors, but Segreto added his second of the match before James Bayliss made things interesting notching up a strike in the 91st minute but it was APIA who hung on to earn themselves a sixth Round of 32 Australia Cup appearance.
One more Cup spot is up for grabs at Landen Stadium next Wednesday as League One Men’s outfit SD Raiders will be looking towards taking out another big NPL Men’s NSW side following their Round 6 victory over Rockdale Ilinden as they take on Blacktown City. This match will be shown live and exclusive on Football NSW’s YouTube Channel.
Each winning team also qualified for the Waratah Cup semi-finals with the draw set to be announced shortly.
