Sapphire Cup Final set as APIA take on Mt Druitt Town Rangers

The first piece of silverware for the women’s game in NSW will feature two National Premier Leagues Women’s NSW teams as APIA Leichhardt FC face Mt Druitt Town Rangers for the coveted 2025 Sapphire Cup.
Both teams got through thanks to victories in their respective semi-finals to earn themselves a spot under lights at Valentine Sports Park in July.
At Wanderers Football Park, the Western Sydney Wanderers were keen on making its first ever final since its induction into the FNSW competition and got off to a flyer as they stunned APIA with an early goal to Anika Stajcic in the 12th minute.
An unfortunate own goal by Ava D’Costa brought the game level in the 31st minute as the half ended.
The inaugural Sapphire Cup winners had the last laugh as Sophie Hoban popped up with six minutes to go to seal APIA it’s second ever Sapphire Cup Final berth after taking it out in 2023.
APIA’s opponents will be the Rangers who needed an 82nd minute winner courtesy of Rita Boateng to send through to their first ever Sapphire Cup Final.
It was a huge moment for the club who in 2025 have been one of the teams to beat since winning promotion into the women’s top flight.
The final will be a massive occasion for the club but they’ll have to do it without one of its stars in Rosaria Galea who saw red with five minutes remaining.
Football NSW will announce the official date and time for the 2025 Sapphire Cup which will also be streamed live and exclusive on the Football NSW Channel in the next few days.
