Central West NSW Football Club kicking Goals

It was a Gala Day to remember for the Forbes District Soccer Club as many as 85 teams comprising of both boys an girls aged between 7 to 16 from across NSW participated in the world game at the Botanical Gardens Sporting Grounds in Forbes on Sunday.
Along with the football action played, a special event was hosted as the official opening of Regional Australia’s first purpose-built football club gym also took place.
Member for Orange Philip Donato MP joined Forbes Mayor Cr. Phyllis Miller OAM and Former Matildas Coach Tom Sermanni for the opening of Forbes District Soccer Club Youth Gala Day and were part of the special guests for the opening of the specialised football gym.
“This event not only invigorates the sport and nurtures increasing numbers of player participation, but it also contributes significantly to the Forbes local economy,” said Mr Donato.
“The Gala Day has also proven the potential to identify country talent, with Forbes Juniors Josie McKenzie and Oliver Northey featuring at the Football Australia Emerging Matildas and Socceroos next month in Sydney and Melbourne.
“The continued success of this yearly sporting event is testament to the leadership, passion and commitment of the club’s Event Manager, Doug McKenzie.
“A highlight of the day was the official opening of the new Youth Strength & Conditioning Gym, which has been co-funded by Forbes Shire Council and NSW Government’s Football Legacy Fund.
“This unique gym is the first of its kind in regional Australia, being purpose-built for football-specific athletic development.
“The new gym forms part of a larger infrastructure upgrade, including a new canteen, female-compliant referee room, and refurbished club facilities.
“Congratulations to all of those involved in organising and supporting this fantastic event – well done.”
