Round 24 Review – League One Women’s
Round 24 in the Football NSW League One Women’s competition was a pulsating weekend of action which saw the goals fly in across Saturday and Sunday. There were six games which were played and it was a weekend for the visitors with four away teams grabbing wins. The Match of the Round saw Hills United FC host Central Coast Mariners FC.

Match of the Round: Hills United FC 2 Central Coast Mariners FC 1
Hills United FC lead 2-1 against Central Coast Mariners FC in their game which was called off in the second half at Valentine Sports Park.
The hosts scored twice in the first half through Isabella Sciberras in the 21st minute and Captain Aisling Davidson in the 37th minute for 2-0 at the break. They conceded in the second half and the game was left at 2-1 at the time of being called off.
Central Coast Mariners FC had a few opportunities in the first half but clawed a goal back in the 50th minute. Peyton Scollay poked home for 2-1 and set up a dramatic finish when the game resumes again.
Hills United FC and Central Coast Mariners FC walked onto Valentine Sports Park looking for three big points in their 2025 campaign.
It was almost the perfect start for Hills United FC. Elin Rosenberg Cemazar wriggled past a defender then planted her shot against the base of the post.
The Mariners responded with a chance of their own. Matilda Gallagher got on the end of a cross and nodded wide.
Next, Monique Holder had an effort from distance then Bianca Galayini produced a cutback for Jess Wootton which Mariners keeper Kyara O’Brien saved well.
Gallagher was the main threat for the Mariners. She got her head to another ball from a corner and Hills United FC custodian Nicola Simmons grabbed it.
Hills United FC had the most of the chances in the first half. Wootton had an effort saved again by O’Brien.
She turned provider next, flicking it on goal for Cemazar who whistled her effort wide of the right post.
Hills United FC made it 1-0 in the 21st minute. Bella Donaldson whipped in a free-kick which saw Isabella Sciberras score a towering header.
Buoyed by their goal, Hills United FC pushed forward again. Galayini shot straight then Sciberras was denied soon after.
The hosts made it 2-0 from a set piece. The corner was delivered towards the right side of the box and captain Aisling Davidson thumped home in the 37th minute.
Galayini looked to further extend their lead before the break. She had two efforts in quick succession which O’Brien repelled.
Hills United FC had an indirect free-kick early in the second half. Donaldson touched it to Sciberras who forced O’Brien into a plunging save.
Central Coast Mariners FC rewarded her effort with a goal in the 52nd minute. A superb cross found Peyton Scollay who turned home for 2-1.
The game was halted in the 57th minute after a terrible injury to Central Coast Mariners FC player Matilda Gallagher with Football NSW set to reschedule the remaining of the match in due course.
Football NSW is praying and wishing Matilda all the best in her recovery.

South Coast Flame FC 1 defeated by Sutherland Strikers FC 2
Sutherland Strikers FC won 2-1 against South Coast Flame FC down at Sir Ian McLennan Oval on Saturday night.
The late show from the Strikers have dealt a heavy blow to the Flame’s finals chances headed into the final fortnight. It was a closely fought first half but the teams headed to the sheds locked at 0-0 in the pivotal contest.
South Coast Flame FC made it 1-0 in the 62nd minute through Molly Lawless which had them on the cusp of three points. Alliyah Yamaguchi equalised for 86th minute with a well-timed shot for 1-1 then Kirsty Fenton fired home the winner for Strikers in the 88th minute for 2-1 and saw them take three points back up the highway.
Bankstown City Lions FC 1 defeated Camden Tigers FC 0
Bankstown City Lions FC were 1-0 winners against Camden Tigers FC in their game at Jensen Park on Sunday evening.
The Lions returned to the winner’s circle and confirmed they will finish in 7th spot on the League One Women’s ladder. It was a tough and willing contest and neither side could find a breakthrough in the first half and it went in at 0-0.
Both sides threw everything they could at each other in their search for three points on a cold evening. Bankstown City Lions FC had a late corner, it was poked home by Hariklia Athanasiou for 1-0 in the 88th minute sparking wild celebrations for the hosts.
Inter Lions FC 1 defeated by Marconi Stallions FC 2
Marconi Stallions FC won 2-1 against a dogged Inter Lions FC side at Majors Bay Reserve on Sunday afternoon.
The Stallions took a big step towards finals football as the season enters the home straight and move to five games unbeaten. Midfielder Sarah Urquhart made it 1-0 for Marconi Stallions FC in the 19th minute and they held that lead until the break.
Inter Lions FC came out energised in the second half and substitute Paola Andrea Giraldo Uribe levelled for the hosts in the 68th minute for 1-1. Marconi Stallions FC took the lead in the 72nd minute through Erinn Cleghorn for 2-1 and move into third spot on the ladder.
Blacktown City FC 0 defeated by SD Raiders FC 5
SD Raiders FC won 5-0 against Blacktown City FC in their game at Landen Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The visitors remain in second spot on the League One Women’s ladder after getting back in the winner’s circle. Taiana Almeida gave SD Raiders FC the lead in the 8th minute for 1-0 then Amelia Savetta doubled their delight in the 41st minute for 2-0 at half-time.
SD Raiders FC pushed forward again in the second half. Sarah Mandile made it 3-0 in the 46th minute then Tenealle Hay added the fourth in the 58th minute. Almeida put the icing on the win late making it 5-0 in the 91st minute in a five-star performance.
Blacktown Spartans FC 0 defeated by St George FC 6
St George FC won 6-0 against Blacktown Spartans FC in their contest at Blacktown Football Park on Sunday afternoon.
The Saints remain on the outside looking in for the finals calculations despite their strong win away from home. Tayla Cvetkovski made it 1-0 for St George FC in the 12th minute then winger Danielle Rutstein scored for 2-0 in the 29th minute followed by Jaslyn Moore making it 3-0 in the 38th minute.
St George FC kept their pressure up in the second half. Abbey-Rose Cryer found the back of the net for 4-0 in the 55th minute then Golden Boot leader Jordan Baker scored her 27th goal of the season for 5-0 in the 66th minute. Substitute Josey Riley rounded off the success with her strike in the 85th minute for 6-0 and moved them one point away from fourth place Central Coast Mariners FC.
