The Coach Education Tutor Training Program is a Football NSW initiative aimed at building the capability of our Member Associations to deliver grassroots coaching courses in their district

Attending a two-day workshop at Valentine Sports Park, exploring learning theories and how to create positive learner-centred environments, were 14 trainees, including four participants from regional NSW.

The weekend was a fantastic experience for both the presenters and the participants. There were so many amazing conversations and interactions and the feedback that was received has been truly humbling.

“I had a great time, and left with a real buzz, and enthusiasm to progress the game and coaching in my region,” said Neil Mackay one of the participants of the program.

“It was a thoroughly worthwhile experience, and so consistently focused on engaging and challenging us to – dare I say it – learn,” an enthusiastic Thomas Engesser stated to Football NSW.

While yet another participant, Dale Russell, was delighted to have been part of the program.

“I wanted to sincerely thank you all for such a fantastic and thoroughly enjoyable workshop this past weekend.

“I particularly appreciated the time spent on making the experience fun, relaxed and enjoyable whilst still concentrating on the development of us as tutors/educators.”

A huge thanks goes out to the following Member Associations for identifying the terrific candidates that comprised the August cohort: Blacktown District FA, Football Canterbury, Central Coast Football, Eastern Suburbs FA, Football South Coast, Hills Football, Nepean District FA, North West Sydney Football.

The workshop was facilitated by Paul Higgins, Grassroots Coach Education Lead at Football NSW, and expertly presented by Chris Gallo, Head of Football Development at Sutherland Shire Football Association and Jonathan Forster, Football Development Manager at Football South Coast.

Football NSW workshop participants will complete their training program in November, and from 2026, they will be delivering MiniRoos and Foundation of Football courses in their regions.
