With the inaugural season of the Australian Championship kicking off on Friday, 10th October 2025, Football Australia has announced the panel of match officials who will feature throughout the competition.

Of the match officials selected, ten are from NSW and members of Football NSW Referees Branch:

  • Brodie Merchant (Football South Coast Referees)
  • Declan Woods (Football NSW Referees Branch)
  • Eric Saba (North West Sydney Football Referees Association)
  • Jake Rose (Hills Football Referees)

Assistant Referees

  • Cameron Wright (Macarthur District Football Referees Association)
  • Lance Greenshields (Football NSW Referees Branch)

The Australian Championship fixtures will see officials with years of experience at the A-League level including Lance Greenshields who officiated over 150 A-League Men’s matches as well as Declan Woods and Cameron Wright who featured in the 24/25 season of the A-League Men’s competition. For others, the Championship marks their first selection onto a national panel after excelling in the NSW NPL and on the Australia Cup.

Additionally, officials from the Ninja A-League Women’s Panel will also be considered for selection throughout the Championship.

“The Australian Championship is now one of the most important competitions on our calendar – not only for the players, but for referees as well,” said Jon Moss, Head of Refereeing at Football Australia.

“It is a stage where some of our most experienced officials showcase their professionalism, while also giving younger referees the opportunity to learn, grow, and test themselves at a higher level.

“We are bringing together a mix of seasoned referees and fresh faces in a supportive environment where knowledge is shared and the next generation of officials can thrive.”

Football NSW would like to congratulate all officials appointed to the panel.
