2025 Futsal Premier League 2 Mid-Season Review – Open Women’s
The Futsal Premier League 2 Open Women’s competition has reached its halfway point, and the race for the finals is heating up.
With plenty of storylines emerging across all eight clubs, here’s how the teams are shaping up heading into a massive second half of the 2025 season.
Macarthur Quake Futsal Club – Quaking Back to the Top
Leading the way at the midway mark is a revitalised Macarthur Quake Futsal Club, who have stormed to the top of the ladder after rebuilding impressively in the off-season.
After an opening-round defeat, the new-look Quake side bounced back in style, stringing together five straight wins to establish themselves as the team to beat.
Their refreshed lineup includes a host of talented additions from the former Sydney City Eagles, including Isabella and Sofia Sollecito, who have slotted seamlessly into the squad. Veteran Melina Manna continues to lead by example with her tireless work ethic and experience.
With a balanced mix of youth and experience, Macarthur Quake are well-positioned to make a deep run towards silverware in 2025.
SD Raiders Futsal – Eyes on Redemption
In second place are last year’s grand finalists, SD Raiders Futsal, who have once again shown their consistency with four wins and a draw from seven games.
Coach Johnathan Webb has guided his team confidently from the bench, overseeing back-to-back victories heading into the second half of the campaign.
Abigail Boag sits joint-top of the Golden Boot standings with eight goals, while Isabella Sultan and Taiana Almeida continue to play pivotal roles in attack.
After falling just short in the 2024 Grand Final against Sydney Futsal Club, the Raiders are determined to go one better this season and finish the job in 2025.
South Coast Taipans – Contenders Once More
Currently sitting third, the South Coast Taipans have reaffirmed themselves as genuine contenders for the top prizes this season. Underpinned by a strong squad and a cohesive style of play, they’ve proven a difficult opponent for anyone chasing a finals spot.
New recruits Zoe Anderson and Isabella Coleman have made an immediate impact particularly Anderson, who has already netted seven goals. Meanwhile, Caitlin Russell has thrived in an outfield role, adding six goals and providing another attacking outlet.
With that blend of firepower and depth, the Taipans will be a major threat as the season progresses.
Central Coast United – Dream Debut Season
Newcomers Central Coast United have made a fantastic start to life in the Futsal Premier League 2 Open Women’s competition, currently sitting fourth and on track for a potential finals appearance in their debut season.
They began their campaign with a 4–2 victory over Raiders Futsal Club at Thomas Hassell Anglican College, before picking up further wins against SD Raiders Futsal and West City Crusaders.
Their attacking duo Indianna Auddino and Jordyn Drysdale have been superb, combining for 10 goals across seven rounds. A recent 5–5 draw with league leaders Macarthur Quake further underlined their credentials as a rising force in FPL2.
West City Crusaders – On the Cusp
Just one point outside the top four, West City Crusaders sit fifth with nine points and three wins to their name. Their highlights include a dominant 9–2 win over APIA FC Futsal and a 6–0 shutout against Phoenix Futsal Club.
The attacking duo of Breanna Buccini and Charlotte Owen has combined for 11 goals, while star signing Sheiden Jabour has brought quality and experience to the side.
With a strong squad and improving form, the Crusaders are well within reach of a finals berth.
Raiders Futsal Club – Building Momentum
Also sitting on nine points, Raiders Futsal Club occupy sixth position but remain right in the mix. Known for their disciplined structure, the Raiders have picked up three wins this season including a statement 4–2 victory over Macarthur Quake in Round 2, followed by wins against South Coast Taipans and Phoenix Futsal Club.
Dynamic attacker Nicole Ossio continues to impress, while Julia Morales shares the lead in the Golden Boot standings with eight goals. With their recent momentum, the Raiders could be poised for a strong second half of the campaign.
APIA FC Futsal – Searching for Rhythm
In seventh position, APIA FC Futsal have endured a challenging start but have two games in hand that could prove crucial later in the season. They picked up their first win in Round 7, defeating Raiders Futsal Club 5–3 on home turf, a result that could spark a mid-season revival.
With talented players like Zoe Zaczek and Annabelle Kalimeris in their ranks, APIA have the firepower to climb the ladder if they can find consistency in the coming weeks.
Phoenix Futsal Club – Youthful Energy
Rounding out the standings are a young and developing Phoenix Futsal Club side, who sit eighth as they continue to find their rhythm in 2025.
Their lone win came in Round 2, a 4–2 victory over Central Coast United in Dural. Despite results not always going their way, Phoenix have shown glimpses of quality, with Georgina Sarkissian, Yasmene Placer, and Gala Pavlovic all providing bright moments.
With their youthful energy and fearless play, Phoenix could yet play spoiler in the latter stages of the season.
