2025 Futsal Premier League Open Women’s Mid-Season Review
As the 2025 Futsal Premier League Open Women’s season reaches its halfway mark, four teams have emerged as genuine contenders for silverware.
Below them, the signs are encouraging for improving sides like Dural Warriors and Sydney Allstars, who are beginning to find their rhythm.
UTS Northside – Setting the Standard
Leading the competition with 18 points, UTS Northside once again find themselves atop the standings, continuing their impressive form from last season.
Benefiting from a run of five home fixtures in the first half of the campaign, they have dropped points just once, a defeat to Eastern Suburbs Hakoah and remain the most potent attacking team in the league with 26 goals scored.
Grace Arnold leads the way up front with nine goals, while Halle Smit and India Horsley have chipped in with four goals apiece. With their attacking depth and strong home form, UTS Northside are well-placed for another deep run toward the championship.
Eastern Suburbs Hakoah – Relentless and Ruthless
Sitting close behind in second place on 16 points, Eastern Suburbs Hakoah have enjoyed a strong campaign, suffering their first defeat only last weekend against Mascot Vipers during the Magic Round.
Prior to that, Hakoah had been unbeaten, winning five and drawing one highlighted by a 3–0 victory over UTS Northside in Round 4.
Their goals have been spread evenly across the team, with Madeleine Malone, Tea Mucenski, Auriela Collins, Ella Gattorna, and Gisella Pipino all finding the back of the net. This shared attacking responsibility has made Hakoah a difficult side to contain, and they remain well within striking distance of the top spot.
Mascot Vipers – Building Momentum
Hot on their heels are Mascot Vipers, sitting third on 15 points and with a game in hand on the two teams above. After a Round 1 defeat to UTS Northside, the Vipers have responded emphatically, stringing together five straight wins, including a crucial victory over Eastern Suburbs Hakoah.
Defensively, they’ve been outstanding level with UTS Northside for the best defensive record in the league and their attack is beginning to click.
No surprises up front, as Trudy Camilleri leads the charge with six goals, once again proving to be one of the most clinical finishers in the competition.
Mountain Majik – Quiet Contenders
Rounding out the top four are Mountain Majik, who sit six points off the top but have two games in hand on some of the leading sides. They opened the season with three wins over lower-ranked opponents but are still searching for that “statement result” against one of the title favourites.
A major preseason signing, Clare Holder, has settled in quickly and leads the team with six goals, supported by several teammates contributing three apiece.
The Majik face a critical double-header weekend against Mascot Vipers, which could define their push for the top spots.
Dural Warriors – Defensive Backbone, Attacking Challenge
If there’s a team capable of breaking into the top four, it’s Dural Warriors, who currently sit four points behind Mountain Majik. Known for their solid defensive foundation anchored by standout goalkeeper Sarah Easthope, Dural’s main challenge has been in front of goal.
They’ve also undergone a coaching change, with Rob Varela stepping aside earlier in the season. If they can find a consistent scoring touch, results may soon follow starting with a pivotal clash against Mountain Majik this Friday night.
Sydney Allstars – Signs of Promise
Level on points with Dural are Sydney Allstars, another side showing promising improvement as the season unfolds. To keep their finals hopes alive, they’ll need key wins including their upcoming fixture against the Majik.
The Allstars picked up their first win of the season last weekend against Sydney Futsal Club, following earlier draws with Dural Warriors and Boomerangs FS.
Demi Koulizakis and Jordan Jasnos have been standout performers and will be crucial to their chances in the second half of the campaign.
Sydney Futsal Club – Battling Hard
In the lower reaches of the table, Sydney Futsal Club are showing fight as they battle to stay in the league. They hold an edge over their rivals in the Club Championship and earned their first win of the season with a gritty 1–0 victory over Dural Warriors.
They’ve also shown flashes of attacking potential, notably in their 8–6 loss to Mountain Majik in Round 3. Dianne Wilson leads their scoring charts with four goals in six games, as Sydney Futsal look to build momentum in the coming rounds.
Boomerangs FS – Searching for a Spark
It’s been a tough campaign so far for Boomerangs FS, who remain without a win in 2025. After starting the season with three straight away fixtures, they’ve shown signs of progress during their recent home run, though results have yet to turn their way.
Their best opportunity came in a rescheduled Round 1 clash against Sydney Allstars, where they narrowly missed out on a first victory. To turn their season around, the Boomerangs will need improvements at both ends of the court as they aim to finish the season strongly.
